Program Manager - Cambridge, Canada - Westport Fuel Systems
Description
Position Responsibilities:
- Work with both internal and external customers to define requirements, timing, budgets etc for new and existing products
- Work with Manufacturing, Purchasing, Quality, Sales and other departments to launch new products, cost reduce existing products and resolve field issues
- Facilitate program meetings with multidisciplinary teams
- Track timing, open issues, tasks and opportunities related to assigned projects
- Create and track product validation and regulatory compliance plans when necessary
- Facilitate or participate in design reviews and DFMEA / PFMEA's
- Create periodic reports on project status for executive and customer reviews
- Provide technical input on designs, including actual design tasks where skills and time permit
- Conduct development testing in a lab environment, analyze data and document results where skills and time permits
- Champion 8Ds when necessary, working closely with the cross functional team
Health & Safety Responsibilities:
- Promote Westport's H&S culture following all Environmental, and H&S procedures and understanding your obligations and responsibilities
- Report unsafe conditions, behaviors and all accidents
- Cooperate with JHSC (Joint Health & Safety Committee) and Safety representative
Position Requirements:
- Minimum 5+ years of relevant experience
- B.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
- Effective communication skills & ability to work within a team
- Ability to provide project leadership, coordination, guidance and drive issue resolution
- Demonstrated ability to work in a fastpaced, deadline driven environment
- Project management skills
- Experience with Product Data Management (PDM) systems such as SolidWorks EPDM is considered an asset
- Experience with design of high pressure components/valves/actuators is considered an asset
- Understanding of alternative fuels industry & regulatory requirements is considered an asset
- Places importance on attention to detail and maintaining high quality standards
- Capable of working in a proactive manner with mínimal supervision
- Ability to respond to frequent demands in order to meet deadlines

Working Conditions:

This position performs some sedentary office work and requires the ability to move throughout the building to interact with others.
This position will occasionally use common tools to assemble, troubleshoot and test components and may be required to lift up to 40lbs.
