Airport Maintenance Assistant
Under the supervision of others and reporting to the Facilities Manager, the position will assist with Installation, maintenance, repair and overhaul of building mechanical and airport systems and equipment by:
- Inspecting and checking function and performance against manufacturers' specification, manuals, blueprints
- Correcting performance as required
- Daily inspections and operational checks for proper function of systems
- Responding to identified problems and failures as directed, to restore function of systems and ensure the comfort of facility users, and tenants
- Using hand tools, power assisted tools, precision measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, dial indicator gauges
- Performs duties such as assisting other trades in the performance of their duties, i.e. lining up of machine components, safety spotting, assistance with heavy loads
- Assisting in maintaining and repairing equipment at sites throughout the airport
- Assists in the performance of other facilities projects.
- Performs all the functions of the employee's primary occupational specialty, in response to operational requirements
Airport Maintenance Assistant Basic Requirements:
- Valid G Driver's license
- Physical ability to stand, walk, squat and kneel for long periods of time both in and outdoors
- Experience operating basic hand and power tools
- Ability to read and navigate blueprints and manufacturing specifications
- Ability to receive a Government of Canada security clearance to work in restricted areas.
- Ability to obtain an Airside Vehicle Operator's Permit
Airport Maintenance Assistant Additional Qualifications:
- Demonstrated ability to follow procedures & safety protocols.
- Ability to work with others or independently as required.
- Basic knowledge and proficiency with tools.
- Proven computer proficiency including software and hardware troubleshooting
- Ability to work as part of a team or independently with mínimal supervision.
- Knowledge of HVAC, fire protection and other mechanical systems would be an asset.
- Ability to complete paperwork and reporting requirements reliably.
- Detail oriented.
- Excellent verbal and communication skills in English.
- Ability to obtain and maintain an airport restricted area pass and airside vehicle operator's permit
- Flexibility to work shifts (_days, weekends, nights and general holidays_).
12 month contract w/ possible extension
Job Types:
Full-time, Fixed term contract
Contract length: 12 months
Salary:
$22.00 per hour
Schedule:
- Monday to Friday
- Weekend availability
Supplemental pay types:
- Overtime pay
Experience:
- Maintenance: 1 year (preferred)
Licence/Certification:
- G Driver's License (required)
