Description

RESPONSIBILITIES:

The duties of this position will include, but are not limited to the following:

Leadership and Demand Management

  • Adopt and scale delivery management function
  • Coach team members to facilitate continuous improvement of processes and adopt latest technologies and methodologies
  • Guide and assist team members to deliver optimal solutions ontime and within budget
  • Work with other IT leaders to help develop overall IT strategy in the context of the College's strategic plan.
  • Manage IT delivery group personnel, developing their skills and capabilities to meet the needs of the organization, as well as building on existing recruiting capabilities to address new needs and skills gaps.
  • Manage relationships with major vendors and service providers to ensure they costeffectively meet the needs of the organization.

Stakeholder Engagement and Planning

  • Driving technical development for integration services on projects based on project objectives and business requirements
  • Deliver initiatives using the appropriate agile methodology (Scrum, Kanban), tools, and techniques. Lead Agile activities including but not limited to execution of delivery road map, backlog refinement, estimations, daily standup and retrospective.
  • Participate in defect triage and work with project teams to resolve prioritized defect fixes
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure adherence to standards for code, design, documentation, testing and deployment
  • Overseeing benefits realization to ensure that business outcomes are achieved.
  • Overseeing development of processes and tools in conjunction with infrastructure and operations to automate the continuous delivery and integration of code releases from development to operations (DevOps).

Continuous Integration and Delivery

  • Collaborate\lead on Integration design patterns and implementations
  • Responsible for endtoend integration delivery for technology projects on agreed time, budget & quality

Budgeting, Finance and Administration

  • Work with IT leader(s) to prepare, establish and monitor budgets and actual IT Spend
  • Develop, track and control budget for software product renewals and purchases, and staffing.
  • Assist with Negotiations of contracts and agreements with external vendors and ensures contract compliance, problem resolution and maximum effectiveness for the College community.

QUALIFICATIONS:The successful applicant must have:


  • An Honours Degree or equivalent in such disciplines as Computer Systems Design, Computer Sciences or a related field is required at the point of hire into this position.
  • Certifications in Information Technology Infrastructure Library version 3 (ITILv3) and DEVOPS is preferred.
  • A Master's Degree in Computer Systems Design or Computer Sciences is an asset.
  • Experience managing a team primarily using agile development methodologies, and transitioning an organization from traditional practices to agile development methodologies.
  • Demonstrated leadership building crossorganizational consensus with exposure to technology providers and/or business clients.
  • Demonstrated experience managing a highperforming, cohesive team.
  • Proficient managing development teams primarily using agile development methodologies, and experience transitioning an organization from traditional practices to agile development methodologies.
  • Demonstrated commitment and understanding of human rights, equity, diversity and inclusion with the ability to communicate and work effectively interculturally with diverse groups of students, employees and the community
The following experience is considered desirable but not mandatory:

  • Experience working in higher education or comparable public service environment
  • Managing external IT service providers.
  • Manage the risk and cost implications of IT contracts or contract negotiations.
  • Membership of professional organizations, trade or user groups and a pattern of regular attendance at industry conferences to enhance knowledge of current technology.
