Summary:
The Employment Support Worker works closely with job seekers to assess employment barriers, develop, and implement an Employment Action Plan.
This is an HSA bargaining unit position and requires union membership.
Summary of Duties:
- Work with clients to achieve Labour Market or Community Attachment including addressing any client barriers and building on client strengths through an integrated case management model. Help clients move towards developed goals.
- Assess clients and ensure they are referred to appropriate interventions for employment and non
- Administer Formal Needs Assessments with clients using a variety of assessment tools
- Develop and monitor Return to Work Action Plans with clients in consultation with the program supervisor and/or other team members directly supporting the client.
- Assist clients to access Workshops, Training, Self-Employment, Job Development, Short-Term Training and/or Wage Subsidy support services.
Qualifications/Skills Required:
- Minimum A. in a related human/social service field.
- Minimum 1 year of recent related
- Exceptional interpersonal, written (English language) and verbal communication skills that include listening, empathy, and motivating individuals; Ability to work with diverse clients and stakeholders
- Knowledge of community resources and systemic issues such as poverty, unemployment, stigma, medications/drugs and the isolation felt by individuals with serious mental and/or other health issues.
- Strong employment counselling skills and understanding of the labour market in the Lower Mainland. Up to date with the latest job search, career exploration and labour market materials.
- Strong team player; Ability to work within a performancebased contract
Working Conditions:
- The Employment Support Worker will work until 6:00 pm two days a week on a rotating
- The Employment Support Worker may work with clients at a variety of locations.
Start date:
Immediately
Location:130 Brew Street, unit 130, Port Moody
Hours of Work:35 hours per week, 9:00-5:00 Monday to Friday
10:00-6:00 Tuesdays and Thursdays on a rotating schedule
