We are looking for a leader with a strong track record in the Science buildings sector to join our team in Canada to provide technical expertise, business development and client relationship management to reinforce this established business and to unlock broader Science based opportunities.


Responsibilities:

Responsible and accountable for client/partner relations (internal and/or external):

  • Maintain regular contact with existing key client/partners and proactively develop new relationships
  • sharing information, obtaining feedback, understanding their needs, managing expectations, and identifying opportunities.
  • Actively network, bringing people, opportunities and activities together to unlock projects and create new partnerships.
  • Representing Arup at the highest levels regionally and beyond (e.g. think tanks, national policy and international conferences) promoting Arup Science expertise and ensuring we are seen as a thought leader, innovator and partner of choice in the science and research marketplace
Responsible for the current and future performance of the Science business in Canada as part of the wider Science, Industry and Technology Leadership Team:

  • Development and implementation of a Science business strategy; ensuring this aligns with the overarching regional and Global business strategies.
  • Setting and meeting agreed financial performance metrics
  • Promoting learning from successes and challenges within the group and across the firm.
  • Making tactical recommendations, decisions and systems improvements that enhance the performance of the team/group/projects.


Responsible as a project director for the design, delivery and management of multiple projects in the Science market - coordinating inputs from many different parties and working closely with key stakeholders to deliver innovative and appropriate solutions which exceed expectations, within budget and schedule.


  • Communicating and liaising with clients/partners/stakeholders and managing client/partner/stakeholder meetings.
  • Predicting and planning future resources, being accountable for financial performance.
  • Negotiating appropriate types of contracts and conditions of engagement for Arup services and subconsultants which minimize risk and maximize the value that the firm can deliver.

Qualifications:


  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering. Mechanical Engineering degree preferred.
  • 15+ years experience in the built environment.
  • 10+ years experience in project delivery in the Science sector such as laboratories, R&D facilities, pharma, etc.
  • Professional Engineering license in Canada.
  • Networked with clients in Canada in the Science marketplace
  • Excellent track record in management and business development, with exceptional team leadership and relationship building skills.
  • Demonstrated strong commercial acumen and financial skills.
  • Demonstrated communication, negotiation, influencing and presentation skills.
  • Excellent planning and organization skills
