    Description

    At SMS Equipment, reporting to the General Manager, Parts & Supply Chain, the Manager, Parts Business Technologies & Strategic Projects is responsible for the organization of the parts and inventory function of the company. This position is responsible for the day-to-day inventory accounts, inventory control procedures, oversees total company inventories and makes recommendations to Operational branches as required. This position offers a hybrid work arrangement and is located in Acheson AB.

    The salary range for this position is $115,000 - $135,000. Salary may vary depending on education and experience. The role is also eligible for a individual performance incentive.

    Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Develop, manage and communicate corporate centralized inventory policies and reports.
  • Ensure that key inventories are located strategically to ensure that the inventory assets are managed where individual branch locations can share critical inventories.
  • Develop standard terms and conditions for all parts contracts, agreements, partnerships and alliances or special sales agreements for utilization at all Branch locations.
  • Ensure that company and manufacturer policies are adhered to according to established policies and procedures as it relates to parts distribution and inventory control.
  • Proactively research, recommend and implement enhancements to inventory systems and works to ensure proper inventory coverage for the equipment serviced.
  • Identify, research and propose technological advancements for warehousing and warehouse management systems.
  • Work with the Product Support team group on inventory levels for any new products introduced and to sell off surplus inventories.
  • Work with key groups to establish market awareness and market share through the effective use of acquired market intelligence to align parts price programs to meet Customer acceptance and SMS overall goals.
  • Develop parts marketing programs employing digital, print and ecommerce to meet strategic objectives.
  • Lead the annual inventory count and reconciliation and overseeing annual parts returns.
  • Establish an analytical approach and make recommendations on market research to develop sustainable pricing strategies for the present market and long-term sales plan.
  • Other duties as required.
  • Qualifications

    The successful candidate will have a post secondary education with a minimum of 5 years related parts, inventory and supply chain experience in addition to a minimum of 3 years leadership experience. Additional requirements include:

  • Extensive knowledge of parts distribution and parts management.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret financial data and prepare financial reports, statements and/or projections.
  • Knowledge of budgeting, cost estimating and fiscal management principles and procedures.
  • Skill in examining and re-engineering operations and procedures, formulating policy, and developing and implementing new strategies and procedures.
  • High level collaborative teaming skills with previous experience leading and working with cross functional groups across an organization.
  • Ability to organize resources and establish priorities.
  • Excellent computer skills in Microsoft Office and related software applications; specifically, parts and inventory computer systems.
  • Valid Class 5 drivers license.
