We are looking for an experienced Assistant General Manager at one of our beautiful and prestigious locations.

Situated in the heart of Eau Claire, Alforno offers freshly baked, house-made pastries & bread and brunch, lunch & dinner.

Alongside our sustainable coffee programme, we are proud to feature a selection of artisan wine, beer & spirits curated from the Teatro cellars.

The Assistant General Manager is responsible for planning, organizing, directing, controlling, and evaluating the operations of Alforno in conjunction with General Manager and Executive Chef.

Responsible for supervising all Front of House functions, including purchasing, service and maintenance of quality standards, sanitation and cleanliness, employee engagement, performance management and training.


Job Duties:

  • Responsible for the training of new staff and overseeing their performance.
  • Ensure employees are trained on their job duties, food preparation, delivery, customer service, sanitation and safety procedures.
  • Develop work schedules, ensure adequate staffing levels and assign duties to staff each shift.
  • Ensure that all staff members serving liquor are appropriately certified and over 1
  • Ensure that operating equipment and inventory are appropriately used and not abused.
  • Maintain records of stock, repairs, sales and wastage.
  • Ensure that all stocks and supplies are requested timely, so that correct stock levels are maintained and stored under optimum conditions.
  • Schedule and receive stock deliveries, checking delivery contents to verify product quality and quantity.
  • Ensure effective communication by attending meetings as required and conducting staff meetings on a regular basis to impart information.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of all statutory regulations affecting restaurant health and safety, and ensure that any safety hazards are identified and rectified.
  • Compile and balance cash receipts at the end of the day/shift.
  • Supervise and participate in FOH cleaning activities.
  • Ensure that food and service meet quality control standards.
  • Ensure that table appointment, table arrangements, and decorations are impeccable and that tables are set correctly.
  • Ensure that stations have their correct materials in place.
  • Handle any customer complaints regarding food quality and service as they arise.
  • Administer appropriate resolutions to complaints.
  • Liaise with customers regarding special functions.
  • Assist wait and kitchen staff as needed during peak times.
  • Schedule and receive food and beverage deliveries, checking delivery contents to verify product quality and quantity.
  • Uphold policies, procedures and budgets.

Requirements:


  • Minimum 4 years of experience in the food services industry.
  • Minimum 2 years in a supervisory/management role.
  • Experience in all aspects of customer service and people management; customer service training or a certificate is an asset.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and direct a team.
  • Experience supervising employees, including organizing, prioritizing, and scheduling work assignments.
  • Excellent verbal and oral communication skills, including giving directions, conversing with customers, and communicating with suppliers.
  • Exceptional conflict resolution, negotiation, and objectionhandling skills.
  • Able to respond quickly in a dynamic and changing environment.
  • Able to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Completion of a responsible beverage service certificate.
  • Experience ordering and monitoring supplies and ensuring appropriate product inventories are in place.

Physical Requirements:
Flexible work schedule, including the ability to work evenings and weekends.
Works with company employees and the public continually.
Manual dexterity is required to use desktop computers and peripherals.
Lifting or moving up to 50 lbs may be required.
Ability to be on standing and walking for long periods of time.
Overtime as required.
