    Overall Responsibilities

    Reporting to the Divisional Controller, the Senior Accountant is responsible for leading the day to day accounting and analysis of the business. This role is accountable to lead the accounting team in providing financial reporting and analytic capability to meet the business and financial governance needs at the highest of standards.

    The incumbent will be responsible for the review and analysis of all balance sheet and income statement accounts. Additionally, the incumbent will assist in financial planning & analysis, facilitate the month end close and additional projects, as assigned.

    Specific Key Responsibilities & Duties

    • and co-ordinate activities of the various Controllership functions (AP, AR, Costing, Payroll, Treasury) – participate in department meetings, ensure completion and accuracy of tasks and reconciliations, provide guidance on tasks when challenges arise, maintain regular lines of communication with Management
    • continuous improvement and sponsor efficiency through developing processes and introducing and managing new systems and tools
    • support to the broader organization with Financial Processes and Systems (ie Expense Reports, Concur, New Vendor Forms, etc.) and act as a liaison between team and software support/consulting teams (Concur, 32 Soft, QAD, etc)
    • review and approval of financial documents and reporting to ensure compliance with Controls, Financial Audit and Tax Compliance requirements

    Support Operational Finance Leadership with preparation, data collection, review and analysis of various reporting and transactional data

    • Meaningful Actionable Information – Communicate timely and accurate financial results including causes for variances against forecast/budget/prior year and forward looking implications; Provide actionable information that will impact the company's financial results; Drive overall performance and accountability for results
    • improvements in the forecast and budgeting process, improve reports, communication and awareness amongst overhead budget owners
    • the month end close and financial reporting processes (Report Generation, Review & Analysis of Balances, Identification and Communication of required adjustments, Results Communication)
    • and contribute to strategic projects as the arise throughout the course of business
    • as a resource for Controllership leaders
    • ERP Improvement Initiatives – Develop a thorough understanding of the company's ERP system including its financial tracking and reporting capabilities; Endeavour to improve the company's systems and security over information
    • Like an Owner – A strategic business partner providing meaningful financial information, professional judgement and insights for the company's manufacturing, procurement and distribution activities; Be the financial lead in identifying and driving improved efficiencies and operating results

    Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Requirements

    • completion of College or University diploma/degree in accounting
    • will be given to candidates working towards a professional accounting designation
    • three (3) years of experience in Accounting, preferably in a pharmaceutical or manufacturing environment
    • time management skills (ability to multitask and prioritize multiple deliverables)
    • communication skills (written and verbal), someone who is equally comfortable communicating with senior management and line worker
    • ability to lead and motivate a team
    • management skills with initiative and perseverance to driving concepts into action
    • skills in Microsoft Office applications – must be proficient in Excel
    • review of monthly account analysis, including reconciliations, gathering backup documentation and referencing
