We're a Canadian-owned and BC-based energy company taking steps toward a lower-carbon energy future by providing renewable energy, natural gas and electricity to more than 1.2 million customers.

We're looking for new talent to join us as we transform BC's energy future.

Our diverse team of more than 2,600 employees is committed to a safe and inclusive culture where each of us can connect, belong and grow.

Join us and let's work together for a better BC. Position Overview

You're ready to take on the challenge of working on our Gas Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) Project where you will be part of a team building a more reliable natural gas system for our more than one million customers across British Columbia.

Your razor-sharp attention to detail and tactical decision-making enables you to provide project and contract management leadership to enable the safe and successful execution of capital work across the province.

With your track record of delivering within a large-scale project and leading a diverse team, you would excel as our Contracts Manager, Meter Deployment, AMI.

In this role, you'll develop, implement, and maintain contracting strategies for all aspects of meter deployment related to the Gas AMI Project.

Reporting to the Project Director, Gas AMI, you will be working in accordance with FortisBC's strategic vision, core values, and leadership competencies.

The Gas AMI Project represents one of the largest Major Projects in FortisBC's history as we upgrade all of our gas meters to implement automated technologies that will improve the safety, resiliency, sustainability, and reliability of our natural gas system.

The new technologies will provide remote access to our metering infrastructure, allowing us to respond to emergencies more quickly and reduce costs and emissions related to manual meter readings, and increase the accuracy and accessibility of consumption information, modernizing our customer experience and empowering customers to make more informed energy choices.

The AMI Project involves a cross-functional team spanning the entirety of our Company, presenting exciting opportunities to everyone who's involved.

In this role, you will:

Negotiate and manage contracts and purchase orders that support our project objectives and goals.
Manage all related budgets while assessing and managing operational and project risks.
Develop and lead a team to manage Gas AMI meter deployment contractors across the province.
Lead and support AMI deployment project workloads to ensure they're met.
Manage contractor safety and quality assurance programs to enable our contracted workforce to maintain their excellent safety record.
Establish and maintain effective relationships with all stakeholders, customers, contractors, builders, municipal agencies, emergency response and environmental management personnel.

What it takes:

A bachelor's degree in a related discipline from a recognized program plus 8-12 years of related experience in a leadership capacity, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

A Project Management Professional designation is preferred.
Demonstrated knowledge of contract and procurement principles.
Excellent communication and collaborative skills to connect a vast project team including various departments, employees, and contractors.
Outstanding strategic-thinking skills to drive efficient delivery of resources and execution of contracts.
Exceptional organizational skills with attention to detail and sound judgment to manage complex procurement strategies.
Additional Information
