OVERVIEW
CANDIDATE QUALIFICATIONS
- Diploma or higher education related to environmental sciences, biology or other related discipline
- Currently poses a professional designation (or in training designation) applicable for conducting professional sign off in Alberta and/or Saskatchewan
- Minimum 4 to 7 years of environmental work experience with three or more of the following:
- Phase I and Phase II program execution
- Remediation/Reclamation
- Groundwater monitoring
- Spill response
- Detailed Site Assessments
- Vegetation management/reclamation site inspections
- Preparing reclamation closure reports for submission in Alberta and/or Saskatchewan
- Project management experience is an asset cost estimates, scheduling, budget tracking client interactions and communications
- Experience in the upstream oil and gas industry
- Willingness to work in the field for extended periods of time; willingness to travel within Western Canada as required
- Excellent communication and technical reporting skills
- Strong time management and organizational skills
- Working knowledge of contaminated sites and reclamation regulations in Alberta and Saskatchewan
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Spend up to 70% of work hours performing technical field activities on environmental projects, which may include:
- Environmental Assessments (Phase I and II)
- Remediation supervision and management of remedial excavations
- Spill response
- Groundwater monitoring
- Detailed Site Assessments
- Vegetation management/reclamation site inspections
- Reclamation supervision
- Regulatory submissions
- Responsible for project coordination, cost control and project scoping to ensure effectively versatile solutions are developed to meet client's regulatory needs and budgets;
- Responsible for both field and office execution of environmental projects with an emphasis on field work
- Active stewardship of Vertex and client safety programs is expected
- Responsible to build relationships within Vertex, with regulators and clients to effectively develop and manage projects within the environmental business unit
- Mentor and coach junior environmental staff
LOCATION
This position will be based out of our Lloydminster or Sherwood Park location.
