The Project Controls Lead oversees the planning, scheduling, budgeting and monitoring of a project.

This role exists to ensure that the project is completed on time, within budget, and meets quality standards while minimizing risks and maximizing efficiency.


What will you be doing


Project Reporting and Communication

  • Develop and implement project reporting requirements, including Monthly Performance Reports, status updates, performance review meetings and written deliverables.
  • Communicate project status and progress to stakeholders, including senior leadership, project team members, and external partners.
  • Develop and implement individualized roles and responsibilities for team members while reviewing
submissions for accuracy, consistency and quality.


Project Planning and Scheduling

  • Develop and manage project schedules to ensure timely completion of project deliverables and
milestones.

  • Conduct critical path analysis to identify key activities that are critical to project success and ensure
their timely completion.

  • Monitor schedule progress against established baselines and adjust schedules as necessary to maintain
project goals.


Cost Estimation and Management

  • Develop cost estimates and budgets for project activities, including labour, materials, equipment and
sub-contracted services.

  • Monitor project costs and analyze variances against established budgets to identify cost overruns and
cost efficiencies

  • Develop and implement cost management plans, processes and tools to control project expenditures
and minimize associated risks.


Project Change Control

  • Develop and implement internal meetings, reviews and communications to evaluate the need for and
manage the execution of changes to project scope, schedule, and budget.

  • Serve as the primary evaluator of potential changes by analyzing and evaluating potential changes to
determine their impact on project goals and overall feasibility.

  • Ensure that change requests are socialized, reviewed and approved by appropriate internal and
external stakeholders prior to implementation.


Performance Management

  • Develop and implement both standardized and adhoc performance management processes to
monitor project team progress and identify areas for improvement.

  • Conduct project team performance reviews and supply feedback to team members to enhance their
performance and contribute to development goals.

  • Develop and implement individualized and/or teamlevel corrective action plans to address
performance issues and ensure project success.


What we are looking for:


  • University degree from an accredited institution in a relevant field (e.g., Business Administration,
Commerce, Finance, Engineering)

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) designation is desirable.

years of relevant experience with a proven track record of successfully managing and delivering complex projects/initiatives within budget and on schedule.


  • Indepth experience implementing project management principles and methodologies such as planning and scheduling, estimating, earned value management, risk management and change control.
  • Experience with project management systems such as Primavera P6, Deltek Cobra, Oracle and others.
  • Experience leading and managing a team of individuals with multidisciplinary skill sets.
  • Security clearance eligibility required: Reliability Status with Site Access Security Clearance (SASC), which has a minimum requirement of 3 years of verifiable history in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the United States and/or the United Kingdom.
