Overview:


The Area Plant Manager has direct responsibility for the plant site including safety, operations, maintenance, inventory management, performance, quality, financial performance, environment, employee relations, plant's image and community relations.

The Plant Manager is an operations professional who understands the value of planning and processes and takes a disciplined approach to execution, while working closely and effectively with safety, customer service, performance, environment, finance and HR personnel.


Responsibilities:


Health and Safety:


  • Responsible for implementation and compliance of Lafarge Safety Program to ensure personnel are working in a safe manner in accordance with policies and procedures.
  • Ensures all aspects of his/her role are executed in a safe manner.
  • Obeys safety guidelines when on construction sites and Lafarge operations.
  • Ensures that employees, equipment and processes meet or exceed the, OH&S and Lafarge guidelines, standards and advisories.
  • Pursues a culture of safety that is best in class with an objective of "zero" injuries or incidents.
  • Actively engages with the employees to reinforce safe behaviors.

Operations Strategy:


  • Provides direct oversight in the processing, storage, and shipping of concrete at the plant.
  • Embraces best practices, processes and tools to ensure plant activities are optimized and costs are best in class.
  • Effectively utilizes Lafarge's maintenance programs to maximize plant uptime and manage costs.
  • Understands the value of quality and ensures processes are in place to provide a quality product to our customers.
  • Utilizes best practices in processing to ensure product remains within specifications as it is received by our customers.
  • Ensure optimal operation and maintenance of all fixed and mobile equipment.

Operations Planning:


  • Achieve annual revenue target by actively managing customer relations along with sales reps in the designated market. Conduct research and analysis appropriate for the establishment of the annual budget.
  • Management of raw materials to ensure a balance between cost optimisation and meeting customer needs.
  • Closely manages inventory requirements at the site through frequent coordination with the suppliers, performance and accounting.
  • Develops operational and capital plans for the plant to continuously improve productivity and maintain costs as low or lower than our competition. Prepares budgets and forecasts.

Operations Analysis and Action Tracking:


  • Effectively utilizes KPIs, Performance Efficiency Reviews, financial statements and operational reports to track performance, establish effective action plans and continuously improve the operations.
  • Uses available reports effectively to measure quality, identify variances and establish corrective action.

Plant Image:


  • Maintains the plant in accordance with stated guidelines for plant image. Plant image includes housekeeping, parts storage, vehicles and equipment condition (cleanliness and appearance), entrance & property, and buildings.

Environment:


  • Establishes environmental policies and processes as a priority at the site.
  • Recognizes environmental compliance as a priority at the site.
  • Ensures regulations are met or exceeded by following Lafarge best practices.

Performance Management:


  • Promotes a culture of performance.
  • Effectively utilizes KPIs, Performance Efficiency Reviews, financial statements and operational reports to track performance, establish effective action plans and continuously improve the operations.

Quality:


  • Understands the value of quality and ensures processes are in place to provide a quality product to our customers.
  • Utilizes best practices of production and delivery.

Capital:


  • Works with Operations Manager and Manufacturing team to identify necessary sustaining and development capital according to Lafarge best practices.
  • Assists in preparing CERs (Capital Expenditure Requests) and assists in installation/construction of projects as required.

Community Relations:


  • Works proactively with the local community to ensure that Lafarge is a valued member of the community.
  • Activities include organization of open houses and participation with local schools and nonprofit organizations.

Relationships with other jobs:


  • Reports to the RMX Operations Manager
  • Works closely with Area Sales Manager, QC Manager and Lo
