Broadcast Systems Integration Technician

Manager, Media Technology

***: The Broadcast Systems Integration Technician will play a key role in supporting the install and integration of the Control Room and auxiliary areas of Roger Arena. They will be responsible for ongoing support for all areas of the control room, including; replay servers, graphics servers, audio and video switching and distribution; LED scoring and timing systems; and a full editing environment with a production asset management system.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

(Other duties may be assigned as required)

  • Design Broadcast Facility and wiring infrastructure for new projects, including purchasing and commissioning
  • Provide technical expertise and support for new technology and on the design and maintenance of new concourse signage
  • Responsible for supporting the following media systems:
  • Broadcast, POV, and Robotic Cameras
  • Routing, monitoring, and distribution of terminal gear
  • Editing systems including archival, transcoding, and shared storage
  • Bowl and external LEDs and control systems
  • Sport clock timing systems and relevant data distribution
  • Replay and clip servers
  • Video switcher support
  • Graphics systems for live production
  • Broadcast cabling including SMPTE Fiber, Single Mode Fiber, Internet, Triax, Audio, Video, Voice, and Data
  • Liaise with Event Managers and Media Technology Manager for event requests
  • Daily support of arena broadcast and media systems including operational confirmation, workflow solutions and configuration, and troubleshooting and equipment repair
  • Maintain documentation for Broadcast and AV system infrastructure

YOU MUST HAVE:


  • At least five years of relevant experience working with control rooms and media systems
  • Demonstrated experience designing and installing Broadcast Control Room Infrastructure
  • Knowledge of and proficiency at a senior level in electronics handling, troubleshooting, and repair in professional analog and digital Broadcast audio and video equipment
  • Strong computer, server, and networking skills, strong proficiency in Excel
  • Expert knowledge of sports venue media technology and systems or equivalent broadcast facilities
  • Working knowledge of broadcast facility physical cabling distribution including video and audio patch bays, cable trays and cabling bulkheads, telco/riser rooms, equipment rooms, and structured cabling
  • Familiarity with video transmission setup and testing
  • Experience working on catwalks and near rigging systems; ability to reasonably handle physical aspects of equipment maintenance, including some lifting and working up ladders
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to establish cooperative working relationships with a variety of internal and external vendors, contractors, technicians, and clients
  • Selfstarter attitude with keen attention to detail
  • Proven ability to work in a live show environment
  • Availability to work evenings and weekends as required by the event schedule
