We are a specialty service, truck carrier located in Delta, B.C. who provides general cargo, refrigerated and bulk commodity transportation throughout the Lower Mainland, Vancouver Island, and Washington State.

Nature of Position:

Full-time permanent position. Must be available to work in the Aquatrans office located in Delta, B.C., 5 days per week. Remote work is not available.

Schedule:
Monday to Friday or Sunday to Thursday - 40 hours per week


What You'll Do


As our Logistics Planning Specialist, you will have the opportunity to use your excellent organizational and problem solving skills to plan shipments and routes, assign drivers, and adjust plans as needed.

You'll be responsible for coordinating with the Fleet Manager on repairs rendered outside the place of business. Your responsibilities will also consist of forecasting future work, and obeying laws and regulations including hours of service. This role also involves planning and overseeing logistics for many different business units on a rotating basis.


You will:


  • Plan and assign trucks and trailers to direct the pickup and delivery activities of drivers
  • Plan which shipments should be combined to increase efficiency
  • Plan and oversee logistics for many different business units on a rotating basis
  • Develop efficient and innovative routing patterns in response to changes in business
  • Provide accurate directions for pickup and delivery services
  • Coordinate with the Fleet Manager to arrange necessary repairs to restore service and schedules to minimize the risk of service failure
  • Forecast daily and weekly driver and asset requirements to ensure we have enough capacity
  • Provide instructions to the Communications team for specialized routes and tasks
  • Provide feedback regarding planned shipments to the Communications team to ensure proper execution of plans
  • Maintain and update driver preferences and requirements
  • Adhere to corporate and departmental policies and procedures
  • Provide holiday coverage and support on a rotating schedule
  • Performs other duties as required

What You Need to Get the Job Done

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • University program in logistics or equivalent businessrelated experience is considered an asset
  • Transportation industry knowledge and experience an asset (i.e. shipping/receiving, scheduling, freight negotiations and regulatory requirements)
  • Planning or scheduling experience an asset (i.e. production, logistics, etc.)
  • Technological skills and knowledge of programs such as Microsoft Office, planning systems, experience using different software, etc.
  • Able to work well under pressure
  • Flexible, able to deal with change
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Very organized with excellent time management and problemsolving skills
  • Strong work ethic and positive team attitude

Monday to Friday or Sunday to Thursday - 8:00am to 4:30pm

40 hours per week. Weekend availability is an asset.
