- Gauge tanks, obtain and label samples, and record measurements accurately during petroleum and petrochemical transfers.
- Verify calibration and condition of inspection and safety equipment prior to each assignment.
- Deliver samples to laboratories and complete all required documentation.
- Attend client and vessel meetings and communicate effectively with terminal personnel.
- Report discrepancies, measurement variances, or safety issues immediately to supervisors.
- Receive job instructions and supporting paperwork from Operations Supervisors.
- Maintain 24-hour on-call availability as scheduled.
- Follow Bureau Veritas health, safety, and environmental standards at all times.
- High school diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Completion of or willingness to complete the TIC Council (formerly IFIA) Petroleum Inspector Certification Program, including all required modules for independent petroleum inspection work.
- Bureau Veritas provides support to achieve and maintain certification during employment.
- Valid driver's license and reliable vehicle (car or truck; no motorcycles).
- Basic math and communication skills.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and adhere to safety procedures.
- Available for rotating shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Frequent standing, walking, climbing, bending, and balancing.
- Regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally up to 100 pounds (with assistance).
- Outdoor and industrial environments; exposure to weather and petroleum vapours.
- Use of personal protective equipment required.
- Competitive wage of $38–$42/hr.

Description
Petroleum Marine Cargo Inspector – Vancouver, BCEmployer:
Bureau Veritas Fuels Testing Canada Inc.
Location:
Vancouver, British Columbia
Salary:
$37.00 – $42.00 per hour (commensurate with experience)
Hours:
Full-time, permanent – 40 hours per week (24-hour on-call rotation)
Language:
English
Travel: 50 % – 70 % (within BC coastal region)
Experience: 4 years or more experience as a Petroleum Marine Inspector with vessel and shore knowledge
About the Role
Oil and Petroleum Inspectors perform quantity surveys and inspections of petroleum and petrochemical products during transfers involving barges, ships, railcars, tank trucks, and shore tanks.
They collect samples for laboratory analysis and ensure all work complies with Bureau Veritas' safety, environmental, and quality standards.Key Responsibilities
