Certified Assistant Competitive Women's Artistic Gymnastics Coach

Minimum hours:4-8 hrs, additional hours required for competitions
Wage Expectations:Competitive Starting wage depending on experience and certifications
Required Qualifications

  • Certified and evaluated at minimum Competitive 35 years minimum experience as a competitive coach
  • Up to date First Aid, CPR and SafeSport

General Coach's ExpectationsArrive each day prepared mentally, in attitude and physically to coach with your best foot forward.

  • Show respect and understanding to those coaching around you regardless of their program.
Knowledge of Skills Progressions for advanced gymnastics Prepare to coach only techniques and skills that are appropriate to your class NCCP certification level Use proper progressions to teach skills Knowledge of Participants and Learning Process Research about your participants - age, program, skills/abilities, injuries Discuss with Program Coordinator if there are any behavioral issues with participants that need to be addressed or that you need assistance with Review any special needs of participants in the class
Job Description Certified Women's Artistic Gymnastics Coach

  • Assist in Coaching levels 28 of women's artistic gymnastics. Majority of the need is in level 67 and subbing needed for levels 2
  • Maintaining proper certification (First Aid, Respect in Sport, NCCP Coaching Certification).
  • Assisting at the Surrey Classic/ Carol Lenz Memorial Competition weekend. Nonsalaried staff will be given a credit of four coaching hours per session attended.
  • Settling athlete/ parental grievances as outlined in the Grievance Procedures.
  • Maintaining good communication with athletes and parents.
  • Implementing the policies set by the Board of Directors.
  • Understand and have good current knowledge of routines and expectations for CCP 2
  • Routines for level 610 will be choreographed by Vanessa, Erin or our States gymnastics consultant. Price per routine is set.
  • All private lessons, or individual time outside of gymnastics with an athlete must be run by and approved by the Competitive Director and the Board Chair or Vice Chair to adhere to SafeSport Policies
  • Preparing a monthly report of progress/results and highlights of your athletes to be submitted to the Competitive Program Director for his/her board report and for media relations.
  • Preparing an athlete evaluation twice yearly outlining their progress, areas to work on, and goals for each athlete he/she coaches.
  • Determining competitive levels for each athlete training in consultation with the Competitive Program Director.


Ensure suitability of diverse learning styles Balance needs of participants in the group Understand rotations To extend teaching of skills progressions To best suit participants learning styles Incorporate a variety of learning activities and learning styles Plan for choice and sequence of activities and transition between activities Plan for a challenging, yet fun experience founded on sound gymnastics theory to help participants achieve their respective goals.

Use knowledge of report card/assessment goals for lesson planning and development of individual participants To recommend other programs for best fit of class/program to the participant to the coordinator Enter hours in payroll system in the appropriate program Find an appropriate substitute if unable to attend a scheduled shift; follow the procedure outlined in the Planned Absences or Unplanned Absences section of the Staff Manual Arrive early for scheduled shifts to allow enough time to prepare (review lesson plan, check warm-up and rotation schedule, set up equipment if possible) for class Prepare participants for activities, events, demonstrations, competitions, etc.

and assist in organizing the logistics of attending in collaboration with the Program Coordinator, including travel arrangements if/when required.
Attend off-site competitions as scheduled and required, fully supporting the athletes and participating in technical meetings.
