BC Place Stadium is hiring a Supervisor, Environmental Services to join the Event Operations team.

The Supervisor, Environmental Services plays a key role in the success of Environmental Service Events Operations at BC Place.

Reporting to the Manager, Environmental Services this on-the-ground position coordinates the activities and proactively leads the performance of Environmental Services staff, and greatly enhances the ability of management to deal immediately with client requests, staff support, performance issues and administrative duties.

This position will represent the facility and act as a management representative to clients, show managers, contractors, and the general public while on shift.


WHAT YOU WILL DO:


  • Responsible for all aspects of supervision in Environmental Services, ensuring cleanliness of the facility, interior and exterior;
  • Ensure universal infectious procedures are being implemented in Biohazard clean ups;
  • Represent the facility and act as a management representative to clients, show managers and general public;
  • Promote a safe working environment ensuring staff adhere to the stadium health and safety regulations;
  • Monitor and enforce BC Place policies & procedures;
  • Conduct site inspections prior to, during, and after events;
  • Schedule, coordinate and provide guidance to all Environmental Services staff. Monitor staffing coverage during an event and redeploy if necessary;
  • Direct, monitor, coach, mentor and supervise employees' performance and success;
  • In collaboration with Event Managers, orient clients/exhibitors, attend and conduct employee briefings as required;
  • Attend management meetings as required;
  • Complete daily reports and all necessary documentation;
  • Deal with all customer issues pertaining to Environmental Services;
  • Assist in staff recruitment, orientation, and jobspecific training;
  • Identify and assess the training needs of staff. Maintain uptodate training records on event Environmental Services staff;
  • Other duties as required.

WHAT YOU BRING:


  • Grade 12 diploma, with postsecondary certificate or diploma in Building Operations;
  • Environmental Services or Housekeeping Certification and/or Building Service Worker Certification is preferred;
  • Valid WHMIS certification is required;
  • Minimum 3 years' experience in building maintenance, facility management, or Environmental Services;
  • Experience working in a unionized environment and supervising unionized staff an asset;
  • Proficiency in MS Office Word and Excel; knowledge of EBMS and ABI an asset;
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, interpersonal skills, and organizational skills;
  • Commitment to providing excellent customer service and guest experience;
  • Willing and able to work varied hours including evenings, weekends and overnight shifts;
  • Work hours will include event and nonevent shifts with varied schedule; to include lead up to preevents, events, post events which will require some overnight shifts.
