The Opportunity
The Manager, Licensing Services assesses, monitors, and enhances departmental performance.

In this role, they will analyze current practices and develop process improvements as well as identify changes in workflows, structures, and teams to ensure continuous departmental performance.

They would use a variety of skills, such as project design, leadership, process optimization, and management to ensure performance and process development.


Duties and Responsibilities

  • Contributes to creating effective frameworks for departmental operations
  • Drive process definition, reengineering, improvement, and gap analysis of current/futurestate processes in partnership with key internal stakeholders and make process design and development recommendations to standardize, improve, or redesign processes to meet departmental needs
  • Ensure projects are completed in a timely fashion and within budget by establishing and maintaining processes for managing scope during the project lifecycle.
  • Determine the benefits and drawbacks of existing policies and propose suggestions to improve the effects of policies on departmental processes
  • Tracks all licensing agreements to ensure that services provided meet the terms defined in the contract
  • Executes department changes while communicating the implications of such changes to different stakeholders
  • Participates in developing presentations and documents for new and returning applicants and other stakeholders on license matters
  • Reviews and updates the internal decisionmaking processes
  • Maintains an understanding of and remains current on Council rules, licensing operations and practices, legislation, regulatory trends, and their implications
  • Builds and maintains relationships with peers, other regulators, and agencies
  • Support internal resources and relevant stakeholders for the flawless execution of projects
  • Monitors and addresses concerns raised by licensing teams
  • Liaises with the communication team to update and review licensing information
  • Provides support as and when required
  • Performs other duties as identified

Qualifications and Experience

  • Minimum 7 years of process optimization, operations, or business management experience
  • Management experience, leading a team is an asset
  • Experience in a regulatory setting, an asset
  • University degree, or equivalent education and/or experience
