Term: 1 year


The Digital Community and Media Specialist will report to the Manager, Strategic Digital Experience and be responsible for the day-to-day management and coordination of the Co-operative and Experiential Education social media accounts and paid digital advertising for business development.

They will help create and distribute content optimized for our social media platforms and support the work of the Digital Experience team in the planning, development, execution and evaluation of the department's social media content, paid digital advertising and strategies to enhance our public reach, student and employer engagement, employer retention and department reputation.


The Digital Community and Media Specialist generates, develops, and converts employer prospects into paid, creditable co-op jobs for all programs, but will place priority on growing job opportunities for strategically prioritized segments.

They must demonstrate excellent sales skills and relationship management with a proven track record of generating leads using digital marketing strategies and successfully converting them to meet strategic targets.

With an excellent understanding of digital marketing strategies, the Digital Community and Media Specialist is required to have strong communication and interpersonal skills to provide high quality, professional interactions, and customer service to prospective and new employers.

The Digital Community and Media Specialist will also collaborate with other CEE units to leverage their social media initiatives with an intent to align all CEE branding.


Responsibilities:

Planning, communication and content creation

  • Plan, develop, coordinate, deliver and evaluate organic content for social media platforms and paid digital advertising
  • Manage Cooperative and Experiential Education social media and Google accounts in consultation with the Digital Marketing Specialist, Video Specialist, Digital Experience Team Lead and Digital Marketing Coordinator. Social media accounts include Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube and others as required
  • Develop and manage the Cooperative Education and Cooperative and Experiential Education social media content calendars and work in collaboration with internal and external partners to ensure content reflects and supports Cooperative and Experiential Education and key initiatives/campaigns
  • Develop and manage measurable digital campaigns in collaboration with CEE communicators
  • Write and produce original content to support CEE priorities and deliverables in alignment with the CEE communications plan
  • Continuously improve digital business development approaches, processes and technology for greater efficiency, effectiveness, productivity, and results by keeping abreast of best practices and changes to the postsecondary landscape
  • Increase employer leads to the business development funnel
  • Conduct environmental scans and competitive analyses
  • Manage and contribute to a library of shared content
  • Attend key CEE events and generate content including live coverage, photography and video
  • Manage visual assets (i.e., photography, social graphics) to support posts for stories, campaigns and events
Collaboration, outreach and training

  • Work closely with all CEE units to enable them to promote, protect and enhance their reputation on social media platforms
  • Work closely with the Coop Marketing Outreach and Business Development team to develop online, paid business development campaigns and participate in the Business Development Best Practice Group meetings that align with CEE's overall brand strategy and potentially enhance brand recognition
  • Attend key events and generate content (live coverage, photos, videos, etc.) to engage the CEE community (including alumni and prospective employers) in meaningful and impactful ways
  • Network with University colleagues involved with social media and paid digital advertising to share best practices and content, as applicable
  • Support and educate colleagues managing social media accounts which includes account management (e.g., creation, access and termination of accounts)
  • Provide training and support for CEE staff to improve their effective use of social media channels
  • Managing thirdparty vendor relationships for digital media ad buying
  • Mentors coop student(s) by providing regular feedback, participating in onetoone meetings, and completing student performance evaluations
Social media monitoring and reporting

  • Monitor effective benchmarks for measuring the growth of the online community and analyze, review and report on effectiveness of content and campaigns
  • Provide updates and recommendations to the Manager, Strategic Digital Experience to ensure social media results are on target to deliver on objectives
  • Provide feedback to the Manager, Strategic Digital Experience and other CEE team leads on the impact of content using datadriven analysis
