Duties and Responsibilities:


Reporting to the Manager, Library Administrative Services the incumbent is responsible for coordinating major Library collections projects; evaluation of space needs for both users and the collections; oversees major office moves/relocations.

Responsible for gathering and analyzing building usage statistics as required by Library management (LEC); the movement of material between the Library and the Library Storage facility.

Responsible for ordering equipment, services and supplies for Library departments. Works closely with other team members supporting the services offered by Library Administrative Services.

Incumbent plays a key role in maintaining the safety of library users, security control of the Library building and its collection.

They liaise with Library departments, Facilities Management and Planning, University Safety, building partners and other university departments as required. Acts as a backup for others on the team. Performs other related duties.


Qualifications:


The incumbent must possess the following qualifications:

  • Good knowledge of fire and safety regulations, have experience in doing inspections and have practical experience in facilitating general office building maintenance of a multi-level, client service complex.
  • Must have experience in order processing for general office and computer supplies and equipment, as well as experience in handling budgets.
  • Must have extensive experience in recognizing and resolving problems, excellent organizational skills, the ability to work effectively with a wide range of individuals and teams with ability to work well under pressure and to meet scheduled deadlines.

Education and Experience:


The above is normally acquired through the completion of:

  • Completion of a three year college diploma in related field such as business, procurement, library sciences, or property management. Courses could include the PMAC Principles of Buying. Completion of Building Management and Maintenance courses would be essential.
  • Five years of experience providing building maintenance services in a large user service facility, including some procurement and supervisory related experience. The successful incumbent must have the ability to interpret and modify floor plans. Project Management experience would be considered an asset.
