Responsibilities:


The Culinary Specialist will be responsible for cooking using cook chill methods of production, meal presentation, maintaining production records and forecasting food production, maintaining and sanitizing work area and all related equipment, and other related duties as assigned.


Requirements:

- Certificate

  • WHMIS Training
  • Minimum 35 years experience as a Culinary Specialist in a health care environment
  • Evidence of Leadership & positive team based skills
  • Must have mathematical skills, be able to forecast production needs, problem solving skills, and be able to work independently and be self directed in a fast paced environment, adjusting to changing priorities.
  • Demonstrate an understanding and commitment to safety programs which include staff safety, patient safety, environmental safety and participate in regular inservice education as it relates to food production.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to improve the Patient Experience through effective communication when dealing with patients, colleagues, volunteers and other members of the community and public.
  • Demonstrated pattern of good attendance.

  • Red Seal Certification

Physical Demands:


  • Constant standing and/or walking
  • Manual dexterity for handling equipment and supplies
  • Must be able to lift up to 30kg
  • Exposure to heat and cold of the production/service/storage/warewashing area
  • Handling of cleaning and sanitizing solvents
  • Exposure to loud noise of environment
