The Brenda Strafford Foundation is looking for the next great addition to the Foundation


The Bus Driver is responsible for providing safe and reliable transportation services for residents to and from various events and activities coordinated by the Manors.

This role supports older adults' independence and enables them to participate in community activities.

This position requires someone who is motivated and reliable and work under mínimal supervision.

They must be a team player and able to build positive relationships with co-workers, volunteers, residents, families, and community stakeholders.

This is a part-time position (approximately 20 hours per week)

Some key responsibilities of the Bus Driver include:

  • Perform routine preventative maintenance for vehicles and always keep vehicles in good repair.
  • Report all mechanical issues immediately.
  • Assist older adults with embarking and disembarking, including loading, and unloading residents who use wheelchairs and other mobility devices in a safe, caring, and courteous manner.
  • Safely and punctually transport all passengers to and from their destinations.
  • Obey all traffic laws.
  • Ensure a clean and sanitary bus is maintained.
  • Keep records and schedules of individual resident requests.
  • Record mileage and maintain vehicle log.
  • Maintain First Aid kit.
  • Foster a positive and welcoming environment for all passengers.
  • Celebrate differences and demonstrate sensitivity towards all aspects of a diverse employee and resident population.
  • Use a problemsolving/critical thinking approach to make decisions and resolve conflict.
  • Promote and maintain effective communication between staff, residents, families and external service partners.
  • To assist and complete other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

The Bus Driver must demonstrate:

  • Effective communication with strong interpersonal skills
  • Solution orientated including the ability to think critically and effectively resolve conflict
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, demonstrating punctuality and reliability
  • Ability to create strong professional relationships with individuals and teams

Required education and experience:

  • High school diploma
  • Valid Class 4 driver's license
  • Clean Driver's abstract
  • Current CPR and First Aid certification
  • Strong written and verbal English skills
  • Previous experience with older adults
  • Familiarity with Calgary

Physical requirements:

  • Able to meet the physical, mental, social, and emotional demands of working within a health care facility.
  • Involves repetitive and prolonged activities/motions.
  • Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds and push or support up to 185 pounds

Job Types:
Part-time, Permanent

Part-time hours: 20 per week


Salary:
$30.00 per hour


Schedule:

  • 4 hour shift

  • Calgary, AB: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)
