Alberta Health Services is seeking an experienced and professional healthcare leader for the role of Assistant Manager (AM), Respiratory Therapy within the Royal Alexandra Hospital (RAH).

As the Assistant Manager, you will be responsible for the direct supervision of Respiratory Therapists and support staff as assigned.

A key focus of this role involves the coordination and organization of assigned human, financial and material resources to ensure effective program delivery.

In addition, the AM identifies and resolves issues that impact service to the site which may include managing employee performance and attendance matters.

In this Assistant Manager position, you will be the first line of contact for assigned staff to resolve problems related to staffing, patient care or other service concerns.

You will also ensure that adequate staff are scheduled and available on a 24-hour basis.


Description:


The Assistant Manager assists in the implementation of department objectives and standards for the quality and delivery of site services for Respiratory Therapy.

Responsibilities include the coordination of daily operations including staff scheduling and assignments, monitoring Respiratory Therapy activities to ensure compliance with program policies and standards.

Responsible for the daily operations including the management of human, material and financial resources. Promotes the development and implementation of departmental programs ensuring integration into the overall goals of the Respiratory Therapy Department.

Additional Required Qualifications:

Computer skills essential. Familiarity with applicable legislation and professional Standards of Practice. Demonstrated optimism and enthusiasm about the Respiratory Therapy Department with commitment to continuous quality improvement.

Demonstrated managerial competencies that include excellent communication skills, leadership qualities, problem solving, conflict resolution, analytical thinking, interpersonal and group management skills, change management, organization, and project management skills.


Preferred Qualifications:

Graduate degree in a relevant healthcare field, previous supervisory experience, completion of courses or certificates in leadership.
