Within the Ministry of Finance, the Corporate Services Division is responsible for providing corporate financial management, budgeting, and facilities management (CFFS), performance reporting and corporate priorities (PMCP), strategic human resource services (SHR), information management/technology services (IMB), and Division Operations (DOB).

These services are provided to a pod of clients, including but not limited to the Ministry of Finance, Government House, Office of the Premier, Government Communications and Public Engagement, and Crown Agencies Secretariat.

The Corporate Financial and Facilities Services Branch is responsible for the delivery of ministry corporate financial and facilities services including budget development and management, asset and liability management, financial reporting and analysis, payment processing, procurement management, accounting advisory services, governance and compliance, facilities management, and physical security.

This position will work in the Accounting and Reporting unit, reporting to the Sr. Manager of Accounting and Reporting.


The position:

provides assistance, advice, and services in the areas of revenue, receivables and balance sheet ; assists the accounting and reporting section to fulfill branch and fiscal agency requirements relating to periodic reporting, revenue forecasting, budgeting, calendarizing, and financial reconciliations, research and analysis; collaborates with programs and central agencies on financial issues and corporate requirements; participates in conducting risk and control analysis including related tests and methodologies; provides solid knowledge management and back up support by identifying, learning, documenting and training others in high risk areas; reviews, organizes, completes and tests written procedures for all significant tasks ensuring completeness, accuracy and simplicity; and helps to coordinate financial systems support and generate reports.

Job Requirements:


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Postsecondary degree in related field (i.e. Accounting, Commerce, Finance) with at least 1 year related financial reporting/analysis experience**; OR
  • Completion of the Financial Management Certificate program and at least three years of related financial reporting/analysis experience**; OR
  • An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.
  • Related Financial Reporting/Analysis Experience
    may include one or more of the following:
  • Experience in business case analysis and financial statement preparation and analysis.
  • Experience interpreting legislation and conducting analytical research to support budget development and evaluation.
  • Experience analyzing financial and accounting statements.
  • Experience developing financial reports.
  • Experience with reconciliations, variance analysis, evaluating and analyzing information, providing assessments, options, and recommendations
  • Experience in coordinating and managing financial information with wideranging stakeholders
  • Experience in use of computerized
