Responsibilities:


  • Ensures continued safe and accurate supply of natural gas to the City of Kitchener and its customers by maintaining pressure and flow recording devices.
  • While working with a team, will install, repair, calibrate and maintain pressure regulation, measurement devices and communication equipment in accordance with regulations and internal standards.
  • Program, test and monitor all electronic measurement and communication devices (e.g., flow computers, electronic volume correctors, wireless LTE modems, pulse outputs etc.) ensuring proper operation and accuracy.
  • Program and oversee Total Data Services (TDS) pressure monitoring portal.
  • Investigate and troubleshoot metering issues identified through Revenue/billing.
  • Provide technical support for Measurement investigation and resolution of billing problems.
  • Collect, maintain, and enter data in Clevest, including accurate completion of all relevant documentation and creating work orders.
  • Collect, maintain, and enter data in SAP regarding seal groups, seal extensions, meter, instrument, and module replacements, along with the creation of SAP service orders.
  • Prepare SAP reports related to pressure regulation and measurement.
  • As a team member, ensure own and other team member's compliance to all policies and procedures.
  • Work safely around customer property, construction sites and private property, backhoes, excavators, and directional drills etc.
  • Provide technical guidance and training to staff and contractors on meter inventory management and measurement standards. Including SAP and Clevest related transactions.
  • Provide recommendations related to the purchasing of new measurement, communication, and control devices.
  • Assist with budget, purchasing of all metering devices and maintenance of meter inventory management system.
  • Support the small meter sampling program with the Contractor as well as the meter replacement process.
  • Oversee the shipping of pallets to Fortis for meter refurbishment
  • Perform regular audits to verify quantities/ meter status within the meter inventory management system.
  • Perform regular checks to verify quantities/meter status within the meter inventory management system.
  • Check meter sets in the field to verify information as required.
  • Perform meter movement and meter pallet transactions within SAP and/or Clevest.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements:


  • Must have a 2year diploma in electronics/instrumentation or a related field.
  • Valid MTO class "G" driver's license in good standing.
  • Advanced knowledge of office related skills and duties including products/programs such as Honeywell, SAP and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Knowledge of mechanical equipment and electrical controls is required.
  • Must have demonstrated ability to evaluate conditions quickly and accurately for decision making purposes.
  • Must have the ability to support and project values compatible with the organization.
  • Must have demonstrated effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must have a strong attention to detail.
  • Must have highly developed interpersonal skills to train and provide guidance to others.
  • Must be willing to vary work hours and perform on call duties to support business operations.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics.
  • Ability to create work related procedures.
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements (Measurement Canada) as it relates to gas meters is an asset.
  • Experience with instrumentation and/or measurement equipment is an asset.
  • Working knowledge of gas measurement systems would be an asset.
  • Must be reliable with good attitude and employment record.
