Description
StandardAero is presenting an exciting and challenging opportunity for a Coating Technician. This individual will be responsible for the preparation, electroplating and heat treatment of aircraft components.

  • Inspects incoming parts and reviews process instructions.
  • Prepares and mixes plating solutions according to formulas and specifications and under guidance from the Chemical Process Technologist/Engineer.
  • Masks parts in preparation for stripping and plating processes.
  • Operates furnaces and uses various chemicals to remove coatings and/or operates and controls electroplating equipment (chrome, nickel, tin, copper, cadmium, silver, Brush Plating) to coat parts

Controls process parameters:
temperature, flow rate, voltage, current, air agitation, amount of deposit and spacing of anodes.

  • Participates in the design, fabrication, and trialing of fixtures
  • Cleans and maintains plating tanks, furnaces, blast machines, fixtures and associated equipment.
  • Participates in the continuous improvement of cell processes.
  • Cross trains in other complementary skills and seeks endorsements for those skills as needed to support production requirements.
  • Moves between production assignments that utilize multiple skills endorsements as needed to support production requirements.
  • Participates in the cross training of other technicians as needed to support production requirements.
  • Responsible for observing all applicable safety requirements and reporting immediately any unsafe practices/conditions.
  • Carries out other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements:


  • Strong discipline in following procedures, manuals, and instructions
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds (unassisted) for approximately 25% of the average work day.
  • Regularly required to sit and stand for prolonged periods.
  • Regularly required to use Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): gloves, safety glasses, aprons, respirators, etc.
  • Basic computer knowledge (Outlook, Word, Excel, Internet)
  • Working knowledge of precision measuring instruments (calipers, micrometers)
  • Experience of working with industrial chemicals (acids, solvents, alkaline solutions, etc.) Must be able to work either early mornings or afternoons.

Desired Characteristics:


  • Ability to read, understand and interpret blueprints would be an asset
  • Experience in finishing industry would be an advantage
  • Previous experience of working in accordance with aerospace manuals would be an advantage
  • Specific experience in plating Chrome, Silver, Copper, Cadmium, Sulfamate Nickel, Electroless Nickel, Brush Plating or Tin will be a
    strong advantage
