Child Care Coordinator - Ottawa, Canada - CUPW

Responsibilities:
The Child Care Coordinator oversees the coordination and administration of the CUPW/UPCE-PSAC Child Care Fund including planning, organizing and developing child care services and related family supports as specified in Appendix 'L' of the Urban Operations/Canada Post Corporation Collective Agreement.
Plan the delivery of the Fund and its activities
- Develop and implement long term goals and objectives for the Child Care Fund, along with a budget and operating plan;
- Develop new child care/ disability initiatives and projects;
- Develop an evaluation framework to assess the projects.
- Ensure program activities operate within the approved budget, policies and procedures;
- Ensure CUPW meets all obligations, objectives and identification as negotiated under Child Care Fund with Canada Post Corporation;
- Ensure all program activities comply with relevant legislation, and are of high quality;
- Develop and oversee the collection and reporting of information on the use of programs;
- Oversee the work and activities of any consultants;
- Ensure all financial records are up to date, monitor program expenditures;
- Identify risks associated with program activities and take appropriate action.
- Develop child care and disability program activities, provide an orientation of the union for new partner organizations, and liaise with community child care partners and provincial governments;
- Keep local unions and regions informed and work jointly on promoting programs to the membership
- Report to the National Women's Committee, the UPCE Executive and other committees as required;
- Promote the CUPW/PSAC-UPCE Child Care Fund to other unions, child care, disability and women's organizations, governments and social justice groups;
- Work with policy and research groups and others to support and advocate for progressive public policy and government action;
- Design and implement an internal education program.
Qualifications:
- Postsecondary education or extensive related work and experience in early childhood education and care;
- Experience working with child care organizations across the country;
- Broad knowledge of child care and disability research and policy issues across the country;
- Experience in project management;
- Proven research and writing skills;
- Ability to multitask, set priorities and communicate with all levels of the union;
- Ability to communicate orally and in writing in both English and French;
- Ability to work well on own and with others.

La coordonnatrice ou le coordonnateur national de la garde d'enfants supervise la coordination et l'administration du Fonds de garde d'enfants du STTP/SEPC-AFPC, y compris la planification, l'organisation et l'élaboration des services de garde d'enfants et des soutiens familiaux connexes, ainsi qu'il est prévu à l'annexe « L » de la convention collective de l'unité de l'exploitation postale urbaine de la Société canadienne des postes.
Planifie la mise en œuvre du Fonds et de ses activités:

- Met au point des initiatives et des projets relatifs à la garde d'enfants et aux enfants ayant des limitations fonctionnelles.
- Veille à ce que les activités du programme se déroulent conformément aux politiques, aux procédures et au budget approuvés;
- Veille à ce que le STTP s'acquitte de toutes ses obligations, réalise tous ses objectifs et réponde à tous les exigences d'identification, tels qu'ils sont définis aux termes du Fonds de garde d'enfants négocié avec la Société canadienne des postes;
- Veille à ce que toutes les activités du programme se conforment aux lois pertinentes et soient de qualité;
- Supervise le travail et les activités de toute consultante ou de tout consultant;
- Assure la mise à jour de tous les dossiers financiers et surveille les dépenses engagées dans le cadre des programmes;
- Cerne les risques découlant des activités du programme et prendre les mesures appropriées.
