Primary Objective of the Position:


The Manager, Aeronautical Services and International Trip Support may be qualified and trained as a licenced Dispatcher as required by this manual and carry out other duties as assigned by Sr.

Director, Flight Dispatch and Network Optimization.

The Manager, Aeronautical Services and International Trip Support shall work hours complimentary to the Manager, Charter Operations and possess competencies that support the continuation of certain charter coordination activities when the Manager, Charter Operations is not available:


Principle Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Acting as designate for the Senior Director, Flight Dispatch and Network Optimization and/or the Director, Flight Dispatch when they are out of the office or unavailable.
  • Managing, directing, implementing SOP's, and delegating tasks to the Flight Dispatcher Assistants in their areas of responsibility, including:
  • APIS transmissions, GENDEC preparation and other customs and immigration coordination activities.
  • Maintenance of Cargojet and customer flight operations and fuel/emissions data integrity.
  • Verification of invoices generated by flight activities.
  • Ensuring adequate Flight Dispatcher Assistant operational coverage.
  • Analyzing and summarizing formal requirements for introducing new routes and destinations in the context of established Bilateral/Open Skies Agreements and Freedoms of the Air.
  • Obtaining PPR, landing and overflight permits for Cargojet network, ACMI, and charter flights, and maintaining Cargojet's tracking systems to ensure there are no operational gaps or risk of noncompliance with permit requirements.
  • Providing after hours support to the Director, Fuel and Commercial planning with respect to contract fuel releases and purchasing.
  • Coordinating with Cargojet Engineering and Flight Operations to ensure aircraft navigation, performance and chart databases are tailored to provide sufficient geographical coverage.
  • Developing and maintaining an Airport Approvals process in conjunction with the Chief Pilot and Director, Flight Dispatch.
  • Assisting the Direct, Flight Dispatch with administration of the NAVBLUE Flight Planning and Flight Explorer ASD systems, including:
  • Ensuring the integrity of aeronautical databases and Cargojet's customer data;
  • Analyzing and resolving reported issues;
  • Enhance Cargojet data including route optimization, performance profiles and biasing, aircraft configuration, fuel and direct operating costs, and alert profiles;
  • Establish and maintain a quality control system;
  • Supporting the testing of bug fixes, product enhancements, automation, and thirdparty integrations; and
  • Establishing and maintaining Standard Operating Procedures for the maintenance of databases in conjunction with the Manager, Flight Dispatch Standards and Training.
  • Maintaining Company NOTAMs and implementing and maintaining a system to manage the NOTAM database to ensure only critical and operationally valid NOTAMs are available to Pilots and Flight Dispatchers.

Minimum Qualifications:


  • Post-Secondary education in Aviation Management or Aviation Operations preferred.
  • Current Transport Canada Flight Dispatcher Certificate and international flight planning experience preferred.
  • Minimum 3 years aviation experience in Operations, Flight Dispatch, or related supporting roles.
  • Previous leadership or supervisory experience preferred.
  • Working knowledge of aviation regulations and international air law, air service agreements, openskies agreements, and traffic rights.
  • A high degree of commitment and ability to accomplish timesensitive tasks on shortnotice.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills.
  • Exceptional attention to detail with a demonstrated ability to meticulously review and analyze information.
  • Excellent written and oral communication.
  • Strong technical skills and proficiency with flight planning and operational control systems.
