    Peace Wapiti Public School Division (PWPSD) provides service to approximately 6,100 students in Junior Kindergarten through Grade 12 in 34 schools and is one of the largest employers in the Grande Prairie/Spirit River region.

    ELMWORTH SCHOOL is seeking candidates who enjoy working in a student-focused and collaborative environment. We invite applications for a Temporary Part-Time ECS Instructor. The working schedule for this position is Tuesdays and Thursdays (5.5 hrs/day) plus one Friday per month exempt December.

    Under the direction of the Supervising Teacher, the School Principal and the District Principal, the Early Childhood Instructor will be responsible for ensuring that the Early Childhood program aligns with and supports the philosophy, goals and outcomes as outlined in the Early Childhood program guide. The Early Childhood Instructor will be responsible for creating a stimulating learning environment for children in their early years. In the Early Childhood program, children are encouraged to explore, learn and communicate as they play in a safe, nurturing classroom. Positive play experiences are aimed at fostering optimal development of social interaction skills, communication skills, emotional skills, creative expression, fine and gross motor skills, and problem solving/intellectual skills.

    Competencies

    Knowledge of early childhood development and best practices in early learning

    Effective interpersonal and communication skills

    Able to lead large group activities, as well as instruct small groups or individual students

    Duties and Responsibilities

    Create and facilitate a classroom environment that provides safety and security for students to learn in an interactive, play-based setting

    Select, plan, and implement play-based creative experiences that meet the needs of young learners

    Other duties as assigned

    Experience

    Experience working with children in an Early Childhood Program

    Experience working with children with special needs in an organized setting

    Other combinations of applicable education, training, and experience, which provide the knowledge, abilities, and skills necessary to perform the position, may be considered

    Qualifications:

    High School Diploma or equivalent

    CPR/First Aid would be considered an asset

    You have the ability to meet outside of school hours.

    You have the ability to work as part of a team.

    Terms and conditions of employment are outlined in Policy GGG: Personnel Policy for Non-Teaching Staff. Salary is commensurate with education and experience. The salary range for this position is $23.70/hour to $28.55 hour.
