JOB PROFILE:


The Recreation Facilitator is responsible for planning and implementing a therapeutic recreation program for residents in accordance with assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of programs suitable for the resident population.


Responsibilities:

Assess physical, social/emotional, cognitive, and leisure abilities.
Observe behavior to assess functioning.
Implement individualized plans.
Implement interventions to restore, rehabilitate, maintain, or improve functioning and independence in life activities.
Provide a recreation schedule reflecting residents' identified needs.
Ensure resident attendance in programs.
Evaluate program success quarterly using care plan outcomes, participant feedback, attendance, and discussions with the Recreation Coordinator.
Publicize ongoing and special event programs through bulletin boards and monthly calendars.
Contribute to monthly calendars and promote special events.
Document residents' progress in relation to assessed care plans in clinical records when appropriate.
Maintain daily program attendance statistics.
Provide information to team members about available services.
Integrate care plans with team members.
Exchange resident progress information and revise plans as required.
Actively participate in facility committees.
Participate in the Quality Improvement Program.
Comply with facility/department policies and procedures.
Maintain equipment and supplies inventory.
Comply with accreditation standards and regulations.
Collaborate with other team members.
Work within operating budget guidelines.
Participate in planning and implementing in-services.
Attend annual mandatory education sessions.
Maintain knowledge of professional standards and ethical guidelines.
Participate in continuing education to maintain certification.
All other duties as assigned.


Job requirements:

Completion of certificate/diploma/degree program in Recreation Field or in progress.
Certified by the Therapeutic Recreation Certification Council Inc.
Related experience in therapeutic recreation provision.
Effective interpersonal skills and proficiency in English communication.
Valid Class V license.
Current member of a professional organization (e.g., Recreation Connections).
Computer proficiency.
Commitment to the philosophy and objectives of Lions Housing Centres Inc.


Other Requirements:

Practice in a manner supporting the Resident Bill of Rights and Respectful Workplace Policy.
Maintain clean and tidy storage areas.
Clean up programming areas after each session.
Act as a public relations agent for residents, department, and facility.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Recreation Manager.
