Your Impact:

The
Transit Design-Build Design Manager opportunity is a chance to work on impactful, highly visible and large-scale design-build projects.

You will have the opportunity to be a Project/Design Manager on large Transit & Rail Design-Build and Public-Private-Partnership (PPP) projects across Canada.

You'll be accountable for the coordination of Design-Build and PPP projects including, guidance of all technical design, scheduling and budgetary performance, design quality, and safety.

As a passionate leader, you'll leverage your people management skills to help your team members discover what drives them, nurturing their purpose and guiding them forward.


Responsibilities:


  • Provides senior design leadership for a multidisciplinary team of design professionals for delivery of multiyear Design-Build and PPP infrastructure projects.
  • Provides direction for all facets of design and construction to the design team, and provides mentorship to a multidisciplinary, and at times, multioffice team.
  • Provides senior leadership and guidance for project design scoping, project development and design reviews.
  • Establishes work plan and multidisciplinary staffing for each phase of project, and arranges for recruitment or assignment of project personnel.
  • Provides cost management, staff management, quality control and cash management on both Design-Build and PPP projects.
  • Actively manages project's budget, schedule, project communications, and documentation and coordinates with project controls personnel, and analyzes Earned Value and schedule performance.
  • Administers relevant aspects of a formal internal safety and quality control programs.
  • Responsible for leading, managing and delivering quality Design-Build and PPP projects ontime, within budget and to the satisfaction of the client and contractor.
  • Assures that project team complies with the contract agreement as well as exercises rigid cost control to implement the approved design within established budget restraints.
  • Serves as a representative of Jacobs at meetings, presentations, and public hearings/reviews relative to assigned projects.
  • Effectively maintains diverse relationships with the Contractor, Owner Representatives, and any number of project stakeholders and influencers.
  • Identifies and markets additional business opportunities with key infrastructure clients and contractors.

Here's What You'll Need:
Qualifications**- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, or similar.

  • Hold a professional engineer designation in Canada, or ability to quickly obtain P.Eng in various provinces in Canada as required.
  • Experience as Design Manger for large multidisciplinary, multifirm design teams on designbuild projects valued $250M CAD or more. Preference for projects $500M CAD+.
  • At least 15 years of experience in the design, management, construction and implementation of infrastructure projects.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in the last 10 years as the Design Manager or equivalent project leadership position with urban rail transit Design-Build projects.
  • Relevant Experience in the design and construction of urban rail transit projects including multidisciplinary experience with including operational modelling, signals, communications, train control systems, traffic systems, traction power, overhead catenary system (OCS), station electrical & mechanical, track structure, special trackwork, operations and maintenance facility, and municipal civil works.
  • Experience delivering highway/bridge Design-Build projects is a plus.
  • Available to travel and/or relocate within Canada as necessary based on project location (requirement may change based on specific project requirements).
