Your opportunity:
The Department of Physiology is one of the largest basic science departments in the Faculty of Medicine and one of the largest physiology departments in North America.
It is a highly interdisciplinary department with many local and global partnerships, allowing excellent opportunities for intensive research training and teaching in medicalscience.
The research conducted in the Gillis lab aims to understand the flow of information from the genome to whole organism biology through computational modelling and analysis of functional genomics data.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Scheduling daytoday project activities, tracking and monitoring research activities, ensuring that projects adhere to ethical and privacy requirements and fostering positive relationships with project partners
- Researching, analyzing, and recommending grant opportunities
- Conducting systematic literature reviews and drafting documents for knowledge translation purposes
- Troubleshooting issues with lab equipment and workstations
- Supervising the activities of research assistants
Essential Qualifications:
- Master's Degree or acceptable combination of equivalent experience
- Minimum three years experience managing research projects in an academic or hospital environment
- Experience managing research grants, including a demonstrated understanding of the research granting life cycle and knowledge of research ethics board processes
- Experience researching, identifying and advising on funding opportunities
- Experience preparing and presenting research results
- Experience providing laboratory maintenance, including troubleshooting equipment
- Experience supervising research staff
- Advanced proficiency in MS Office Suite
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal
- Proven ability to work independently and effectively manage competing priorities while maintaining a high degree of accuracy and quality
- Must be able to cope with pressures and deadlines while adapting to evolving processes and procedures
- Excellent judgement and diplomacy on confidential issues
- Ability to exercise a high degree of caution around health and safety practices
