About the Role:


Responsibilities:


  • Accurately and efficiently process payroll with assistance of HRIS (Ceridian Dayforce) and process related government remittances
  • Review payroll transactions for completeness and reasonableness and investigate discrepancies
  • Prepare special payments and payroll deduction calculations
  • Manage and maintain timely compliance for payroll, legal and tax reporting filings in accordance with applicable provincial standards
  • Administer the payroll yearend processes, including preparation and distribution of tax slips (T4, RL1) and associated government filings and reconciliations
  • Assist in the implementation of key initiatives impacting payroll
  • Prepare financial reports for leadership and finance department, including reports to support payroll posting in general ledger, vacation accruals etc.

Requirements:


  • Experience as a payroll specialist in a progressive role
  • Previous experience as a team leader (in any capacity)
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage payroll for several pay groups while working under tight deadlines
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to foster strong relationships at all levels in the organization
  • Solid understanding of payroll best practices and accounting fundamentals
  • Diploma or Degree in business, accounting or a relevant field (proven work experience may be considered)
  • Asset: Payroll certification (PCP or CPM) preferred
  • Asset: Member of Canadian Payroll Association
  • Asset: Bilingualism (French/English)
