About the Role:

Responsibilities:

Accurately and efficiently process payroll with assistance of HRIS (Ceridian Dayforce) and process related government remittances
Review payroll transactions for completeness and reasonableness and investigate discrepancies
Prepare special payments and payroll deduction calculations
Manage and maintain timely compliance for payroll, legal and tax reporting filings in accordance with applicable provincial standards
Administer the payroll yearend processes, including preparation and distribution of tax slips (T4, RL1) and associated government filings and reconciliations
Assist in the implementation of key initiatives impacting payroll
Prepare financial reports for leadership and finance department, including reports to support payroll posting in general ledger, vacation accruals etc.

Requirements:

Experience as a payroll specialist in a progressive role
Previous experience as a team leader (in any capacity)
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage payroll for several pay groups while working under tight deadlines
Excellent interpersonal skills to foster strong relationships at all levels in the organization
Solid understanding of payroll best practices and accounting fundamentals
Diploma or Degree in business, accounting or a relevant field (proven work experience may be considered)
Asset: Payroll certification (PCP or CPM) preferred
Asset: Member of Canadian Payroll Association
Asset: Bilingualism (French/English)
