The team actively manages a varied and dynamic range of risk types, including security, fraud, information security, operational, credit, pension, insurance, compliance, regulatory, market, reputation and geopolitical risks.

About the role


The purpose of this role is support strategy initiatives in the Wealth and Personal Banking (WPB) business within the context of credit risk management support.

The role will report to the Head of Secured Portfolio Management and will also support the Wealth and Personal Banking (WPB) Chief Risk officer (CRO).

The role will work on Risk Management strategic updates for the various risk forums including WPB, Canada level Risk Management meeting (RMM), Americas Risk Management meeting (RMM) as well as Group Risk presentations, and Board reports and discussion papers.

The role will also support the setting of risk appetite and conduct ad hoc analyses to determine emerging risks within the secured credit portfolio.

The role will work with the business on policy, process, and system changes that enable the business to achieve its significant growth initiatives within the bank's risk appetite.

The role will also support responses to the regulator where required, and the governance of Third Party Vendors. Lastly, the role will be involved in supporting the transition to the purchaser of the HBCA business. There will be a number of ad hoc duties and responsibilities required.


Responsibilities:


  • The business is looking to continue to grow in new ways. Digital processes, broker channel, and new product offerings. In order to do so effectively, this role will be working on both projects and initiatives that support these activities and ensure the bank grows effectively, and sustainably within its risk appetite.
  • Deliver fair outcomes for our customers and ensure own conduct maintains the orderly and transparent operation of financial market.
  • Be part of an effective team and influence through strong written and oral communication.
  • Promote an environment that supports diversity and reflects the HSBC Brand.
  • To implement the Group compliance policy locally by containing compliance risk in liaison with the Head of Group Risk, Global Risk Officer, Area Risk e Officer or Local Risk Officer, ensuring adequate materials, support and responses are provided to all as well regulators.
  • Ensure all employees are aware of and effectively identify and manage applicable money laundering (ML), terrorist financing (TF), sanctions and reputational risks.
Complete other responsibilities as assigned
Requirements

  • Knowledge of retail real estate secured banking products
  • Knowledge of retail real estate market in Canada
  • Knowledge of OSFI B20 guidelines
  • Knowledge of implementing process and/or systems change an asset
  • Very Strong communication and presentation skills is an essential part of this function


  • Minimum

  • University educated undergraduate program in a Canadian University, or well recognized foreign University.
  • Very strong time management skills
