The Opportunity

The Finance Department is looking for a talented individual to join our dynamic team The Manager of Assets will work closely with other members of the finance team to ensure the accurate, reliable, and timely reporting of financial information for the City of Grande Prairie.

Reporting to the Director of Financial Management, the Manager of Assets supports financial controls and oversight.

The Manager of assets is responsible to lead the Organization's Corporate Asset Management Strategy, including strategies relating to the financing of future capital needs.

Additionally, this position will ensure the accuracy, completeness, and timely reporting of tangible capital assets, asset retirement obligations, deferred revenues, and related grant reporting to other levels of government as required.


Responsibilities

You will be responsible for the following:

  • Asset Management
  • Develop and maintain policies, scope, standards, and procedures to support Corporate Asset Management.
  • Lead multidepartmental asset management team.
  • Develop and monitor asset management plans, projects, and funding requirements.
  • Monitor trends and developments in asset management best practices and legislation.
  • Ensure proper controls and adherence for the acquisition and disposal of assets.
  • Assist in the vetting of capital projects and capital planning as it relates to Corporate Asset Management policies, plans, procedures, and finances.
  • Leadership, coaching, and staff training
  • Performance management of staff.
  • Coaching and mentorship.
  • Oversight of 4 direct reports.
  • Reconciliations and review
  • Review of the City's TCA listing and reporting of WIP capital.
  • Review of and reporting on deferred revenues.
  • Support the Director and other managers in the department for longterm debt and reserve strategies.
  • Review of quarterly capital project reporting for Unaudited Financial Statements.
  • Support requirements of interim and annual audits, including coordinating the production of yearend working papers and information as needed for the external auditors. Review general ledger trial balance and working papers for accuracy & generate adjusting entries as required
  • Ad hoc work as required by the director

40 hours per week.


Salary/Wage
$49.90 to $61.27 per hour.
