JOB DESCRIPTION


Reporting to the Director, Platform Products, the Manager, API Operations will manage the introduction of new APIs and/or maintenance/updates to existing APIs.

The Manager is accountable for ensuring the introduction of new API features meet the business and technical needs, requirements, and specifications, while achieving strategic, corporate and operating goals.

Furthermore, post installation, the evolution and development of a API Governance and Management will also be your responsibility.


JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop and maintain the API Governance documentation for internal guidance and executive briefing to ensure the overall plan is aligned to the corporate and team objectives.
  • Collaborate with teams to ensure design, technical and business requirements are met for any API related implementations on the product.
  • Utilize specific API methodology and be able to function at a high capacity in both Agile and Waterfall projects whilst performing API Operational duties.
  • Works with all stakeholders including design, business, product, technical and operational plans to support delivery of financial targets and strategic objectives.
  • Develop and manage the new API specifications and business cases for leadership and funding approval.
  • Develop and implement, with guidance from the Director of Platform Product, API Governance objectives, strategies and plans for the API product portfolio.
  • Manage internal relationships and recommend changes, enhancements or solutions to API products or to increase revenue, if applicable, strengthen delivery of Partner ROI, and/or maximize customer loyalty for the new products APIs and features.
  • Develop and implement ongoing API Governance reviews, to ensure delivery of targets and broader business objectives, including strategies to mitigate shortfalls and/or capture incremental opportunities.
  • Develop strong relationships with the Partners and fully understand their business, including the industry/environment in which they compete.
  • Recognize risks and opportunities based on customer insights, API metrics, trends and analyses, and recommend appropriate API strategies.
  • Identify the need for, and facilitate the development of, new or modified APIs and our usability based on user feedback and API product results, and/or to meet changing optimal operating conditions, review initiatives from other functions to ensure their acceptability from the point of view of product, and operational impacts, and incorporate approved changes into product plans.
  • Prepare API Governance strategies as the primary input for the formulation of corporate API management strategies, and evaluate strategic options from the developer's perspective.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education

  • Completed postsecondary, preferably in a related field OR a combination of equivalent professional experience and training

Experience

  • 3 to 5 years of relevant functional experience
- (If managing a team) 2 or more years' experience managing people

  • Proficient computer skills and competent with Microsoft Office programs
  • Designation and or certifications programs may be required for certain positions (e.g. Finance & Engineering)
  • CSPO or equivalent agile delivery experience
- (If managing a team) Excellent team building and leadership skills and experience

  • Sound organizational, analytical, judgement and decisionmaking skills with proven abilities in problemsolving
  • Strong interpersonal skills with an ability to build and maintain relationships
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
