Respite workers provide care in the family residence or community


This includes:
attending day camps, planning fun outings, and assisting with adaptive skills at home.

Minimum Qualifications:


  • Qualifications:_
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • A clear vulnerable sector criminal record check
  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 25 lbs
  • Valid driver's license and access to a vehicle
  • A minimum of 1 year experience in working with children, adolescents, and/or adults with special needs
  • Education in psychology, special education, or a related field AND/OR a college diploma in ABA, special education, or a related field is considered an asset
  • Knowledge of:_

Job Duties:


  • Provide respite care for children with exceptionalities within their home and community
  • Plan and execute activities that are enjoyable to the client
  • Assist with personal care of clients as needed (feeding, toileting, etc.)
  • Maintain a clear understanding of the rules of the home
  • Follow Connections Behaviour Consulting policies and procedures
  • Attend staff meetings as required
  • Collect descriptive data of challenging behaviours
  • Maintain respect and confidentiality for all clients
  • Maintain and protect the wellbeing of all clients while providing care and when emergency crisis situations arise
  • Accurately maintain written records and notes
  • Work a schedule which may incorporate providing services to multiple families
  • Communicate professionally with customers, guardians, parents and supervisors
  • Effectively and promptly communicate with supervisor in the event of an unusual occurrence or crisis situation within 24 hours of the event
  • Other job duties as assigned by the supervisor

Part-time hours: per week


Salary:
$18.00-$21.00 per hour


Schedule:

  • Monday to Friday
  • Weekends as needed
