Description

The Pierre Lassonde School of Fine Arts at Mount Allison University invites applications to teach FINA 1931 (Introduction to Media II – Sculpture) for the winter term (January to April 2025), as a stipendiary (part-time) position. The Introduction to Media II (Sculpture) course is designed to introduce students to the studio area of sculpture, covering the basic techniques and concepts of sculptural practices. The course is required of all first year BFA students. This course involves 6 contact hours of class time per week and is scheduled to meet on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons from 2:30 to 5:20 p.m. The anticipated enrolment is 28 students.

Candidates should have a Master of Fine Arts degree with a commitment to studio and teaching practices. Applications should include a letter of application, a curriculum vitae, documentation of recent creative work (maximum of 20 images), names and contact information of two references, and relevant supporting material including a teaching portfolio (course outlines, examples of student work, etc.), submitted as a single PDF.

Mount Allison is a highly respected small undergraduate institution. With 11 full and part-time faculty and technical staff and approximately 125 students, the Department of Fine Arts offers a BFA and BA with majors and minors in studio art and art history, with studio courses in drawing, painting, photography, printmaking, open media and sculpture. In 2014, the Department of Fine Arts moved to the Purdy Crawford Centre for the Arts, a new purpose-built facility on the Mount Allison campus. An important support to the Department on campus is the Owens Art Gallery, with a program of contemporary and historical exhibitions and visiting artists' presentations.
