    As the Project Manager, reporting to the Director, Legal Services, you will be responsible for leading a project to purchase document management, contract management systems, (or a single system that is suitable for both tasks), for the Legal Services section of the Calgary Police Service (CPS). You will be accountable for the overall delivery of the project, ensuring project objectives are delivered within scope, on schedule and within the budget. Specific duties include:

  • Develop project metrics, milestones and monitor the performance of the vendor.
  • Facilitate business outcome sessions with clients to define success measures.
  • Research evaluation tools to measure impact, success, and opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Lead the development of the project charter, identify deliverables, and assist with the business case presentation to key partners including the Senior Leadership Team.
  • Partner with the City of Calgary to create the request for proposal and identify requirements of the vendor.
  • Define the scope of work, deliverables, expectations, and goals with the vendor.
  • Manage project budget including internal and external resources, technology, and external contracts.
  • Communicate project status, risk, and mitigation strategies with project sponsors, and provide recommendations on suggested system changes.
  • Conduct a needs assessment with project sponsors by facilitating planning sessions, focus groups and one-on-one meetings.
  • Develop a change management strategy, system transition, training and communications plan.
  • Manage training development and delivery, learning transfer and sustainment.
  • Qualifications
  • A degree in Business Administration, Commerce, Information Technology or a related field, plus 3 years of related experience in project management, developing strategic planning, and records and document management.
  • This position requires a strong understanding of project management best practices.
  • A Project Management Professional (PMP) certification will be considered an asset.
