Role Responsibilities:
The responsibilities for these roles include:
Leading teams in the delivery of government's highest priority products to transform Ministry programs
- Responsible for creating and configuring appropriate product teams in conjunction with Strategy & Operations for vendor management.
- Providing leadership on digital practices to ensure that product teams are aligned with DDD methodology.
- Creating and fostering conditions for successful product teams within ministry partnerships.
- Removing barriers to delivery to ensure maximum return on investment from product teams.
- Ensuring that teams are focused on the highest priorities, driving value for citizens, ministry programs, and DDD. Escalating issues to the Director or Executive Director as needed.
- Acting as coproduct owner until the first release of a product.
- Supporting ministry product owners in change management activities.
- Managing human resources processes (e.g., vacation, training, performance management) within a matrixed environment.
- Providing coaching and support to resolve conflict or performance issues.
- Reporting on progress, status, burn rates of product teams.
- Conducting demos, government
- Participating in DDD strategic and operational activities as required. Serving as Acting Director when needed.
- Facilitating or participating in ministry prioritization sessions to generate or update product roadmaps.
- Providing decision support materials such as product canvas or opportunity cards to drive efficient prioritization by ministry leadership.
- Engaging ministry leadership or key external stakeholders as required to ensure alignment of product team priorities with ministry business plans.
- Delivering reports on progress, status, and value creation in alignment with DDD approaches, while ensuring that historical reporting practices do not misrepresent or overburden product owners and teams.
Qualifications:
University degree in a related field such as Science, Arts, Design, Product Management, Public Administration, Computer Science, Commerce, or Communications plus four years of related experience in a management role.
To be successful in this position, you will have:
- A practitioner's understanding of formal Product Management including frameworks such as discovery/alpha/beta/live.
- Experience leading and managing top performing Product Teams.
- A track record of iterative, usercentered, datadriven digital delivery.
Notes:
There are multiple positions across Alberta that are full-time, permanent.
