S&R Sawmills has a long history of Custom Cutting in the Lower Mainland.

We are family run business that was established in 1963 and currently has a workforce of over 400 employees on a large strip of the Fraser River.

This role is a full-time, permanent position which includes a benefits package and pension plan.

Role Description:

Reporting to the Shift Foreman, Loader Operator employees are responsible for safely operating the CAT 980 Front End Loaders, loading conveyer belts for the chip barge/scow and rigging of the barges.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Daily equipment checks, including fueling and checking the oil
Loading chip conveyers with wood byproducts (chips, sawdust & hogg)
Rigging of the chip scow/barge
Obey all traffic laws and local bylaws
Correct use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
Identify, protect, and report safety hazards to management or a member of the safety committee
Follow all Safe Work Procedures
Other duties as assigned by the Shift Foreman

Qualifications, Experience and Skills:

Previous experience operating heavy equipment required
Experience with forest products considered an asset
Physical demands require be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Good communication skills and strong command of the English language, both written and verbal
Safety first attitude
Must have reliable transportation to and from work (Mill is transit accessible)
Must be able to do shift work (Day shifts are 7:00am 3:30pm, Afternoon shifts are 3:30pm12:00am)
