The Production Worker is responsible for operating multiple pieces of equipment inside and outside the building, as well as performing a variety of tasks related to the manufacturing of pressure-treated lumber.


Responsibilities & Requirements:


  • Work in compliance with all company rules and regulations.
  • Follow all company Health & Safety policies and SOPs.
  • Wear all required PPE and work safely.
  • Participate in all companymandated training.
  • Operate equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Ensure manufactured products meet quality standards.
  • Strap, tag, end tag, bag, inspect, and downsize lumber as required.
  • Label parts and products clearly and accurately.
  • Complete appropriate forms legibly and clearly.
  • Work cooperatively with a team to achieve production targets.
  • Maintain good housekeeping in assigned areas.
  • Abide by OHSA workplace health and safety standards.
  • Report all Health & Safety issues immediately.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Shifts:


Day shift:
6am - 3:30pm


Afternoon shift:
3:30pm - 10am with a $1.25 premium.


QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Education: High School Diploma/GED

Licenses/Certifications: Valid driver's license (an asset), Forklift License (an asset):

1 year of experience working with machinery in warehouse setting

Clean criminal background check paperwork

LANGUAGES AND CORE COMPETENCIES (Knowledge, Skills & Abilities):


Languages Required:

Proficiency in English


Core Competencies:


  • Stand for significant periods of time (7 hours or more)
  • Lift 50lbs unassisted
  • Good manual dexterity and handeye coordination
  • Comfortable with repetitive tasks
  • Attention to detail
  • Basic troubleshooting skills
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills

Ability to:


  • Deal with problems in standardized situations
  • Read and comprehend simple instructions, correspondence, memos, and schedules
  • Write simple correspondence
  • Work independently and be flexible with assignments
  • Basic math skills

Job Types:

Full-time, Permanent


Pay:
$21.50 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week


Flexible Language Requirement:

  • French not required

Schedule:

  • 8 hour shift
  • Evening shift
  • Monday to Friday
  • Morning shift
  • Weekends as needed

Ability to commute/relocate:

  • Peterborough, ON: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (preferred)

Education:


  • Secondary School (preferred)

Experience:

Machine Operator: 1 year (preferred)

  • Forklift operating: 1 year (preferred)
  • Warehouse: 1 year (preferred)

Language:


  • English (preferred)
