Description
Developing and delivering a wide variety of courses in our Social Service Worker program within the 4 course streams of clinical, theory, community and field placement

  • Evaluating student progress / achievement
  • Creating and maintaining a positive learning environment
  • Incorporating a variety of learning / teaching strategies and technologies to meet student needs
  • Participating in portfolio / academic / campus and collegewide activities as required
  • Participating in course / curriculum revision, course / program revision and renewal activities
  • Developing alternative delivery strategies, and online course development and teaching, as required
  • Detailed descriptions of responsibilities, are defined in the classification definition of professor in the Academic Collective Agreement

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required:

  • Master's degree in social work, Counselling or a related field
  • Three years of experience in teaching (facetoface and online modalities) with demonstrated commitment to experiential teaching and learning approaches, and curriculum development at the postsecondary level or equivalent experience as a facilitator in the field;
  • A minimum five years of relevant frontline and/or management experience within the Social Service Field, with demonstrated experience in one (or more) of the following areas: client intakes or assessments, crisis intervention and trauma informed practice with a focus on individuals, family and/or community interventions, community development and advocacy, communitybased research and evaluation;
  • Demonstrated ability to coach and support students using responsive pedagogies and resources for instructional and educational development
  • Proven commitment to Equity, Diversity, Inclusion and Decolonization practice including knowledge and experience of working with diverse communities (including: Indigenous, racialized, Francophone, newcomers and refugees, LGBTQS ).
  • Demonstrated connection to community through advocacy and partnerships;
  • The ability to effectively adapt and integrate new technology into teaching and learning
  • Proven ability to contribute to a positive team environment (multi/interdisciplinary/therapeutic teams)
  • Commitment to lifelong learning
  • Computer literacy: Microsoft Office Suite
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and problemsolving skills

Additional Asset / Preferred:


  • Current member (or eligible to register) with the British Columbia School Social Workers and Social Services Workers and/or College of Registered Psychotherapists of BC
  • Experience with online course development and / or online teaching
  • Experience in some or all of the following: curriculum development, a variety of delivery strategies, adult learning methodologies, academic advising, and student success strategies
  • Computer literacy: Learning Management System / Web Delivery Software (i.e. Blackboard) and Student Information Systems
  • The ability to teach in more than one program area


Applicants selected for an interview will be required to present a teaching lesson during the interview and / or present a professional portfolio.


Acceptable proof of education (degrees, credentials) from recognized post-secondary institutions or confirmation of international equivalencies will be required as part of the selection process.


Salary:
$25.00-$30.00 per hour


Schedule:

  • Monday to Friday

Ability to commute/relocate:

  • Vancouver, BC: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)

Education:


  • Bachelor's Degree (preferred)

Experience:

- teaching: 1 year (preferred)
