Business Overview

The Portfolio Strategist team at Fidelity Investments Canada is responsible for promoting Fidelity's portfolio construction capabilities. The group is the in-house expert on Fidelity portfolio intelligence across a variety of business lines.

The Group works closely with the Sales, Marketing and Corporate Affairs teams to meet the needs of clients in coordination with the Portfolio Management Team and other key areas of the organization.

Role Overview


The Portfolio Strategist is responsible for providing sales, marketing, and portfolio managers with product analysis, expertise, and content for market and regulatory communications.

The Portfolio Strategist will also be responsible for supporting sales by providing insight and expertise in the analysis and construction of portfolios and contributing to thought leadership in the portfolio construction space.

Key Accountabilities

  • Product Stewardship
  • Build, maintain and communicate an expert level of knowledge on assigned products
  • Ensure that assigned products deliver on their stated investment objective and strategies
  • Product Optimization
  • Ensure that assigned products are optimally positioned for success
  • Sales & Marketing Support
  • Products are fullysupported with content, communications and messages aligned with FIC overall business and sales objectives
  • Support sales team members on ad hoc queries for product information, training on products and portfolio construction tool
  • Assist in the development and analysis of thought leadership pieces
  • Accompany sales team in client meetings supporting discussions about portfolio construction (e.g. demonstrating how different factors in a portfolio contribute to the overall risk of that portfolio)
What We're Looking For

  • Bilingualism in French and English (oral and written)
  • More than 5 years of experience working in the financial services/mutual fund industry including experience in portfolio construction.
  • Completion of a university degree, ideally with a business focus (Finance, Economics and/or Accounting).
  • CFA designation (or in progress)
