The Strategic Human Resources Business Partner (SHRBP) supports an assigned portfolio and provides guidance and counsel to managers bringing a strategic perspective on all functional areas of Human Resources (HR) including engagement, staffing, talent and performance management, compliance, employee and labour relations, total rewards, health and safety, leadership coaching and development, etc.

As the SHRBP, you work in collaboration with stakeholders to drive organization effectiveness, capacity and engagement.


Accountabilities:

  • Collaborate and partner with clinical and nonclinical directors/managers in developing and implementation of staffing strategies
  • Partner with and serve as a resource to employees, management to promote and maintain positive employee and labour relations to strengthen and optimize talent, in their performance and engagement
  • Proactively identify, facilitate, and advise on the equitable resolution of jobrelated complaints, grievances and concerns; balancing employee and Osler interests to mitigate and manage risks creating an environment that promotes engagement and inclusivity
  • Prepare/present and represent position statements and evidence on behalf of Osler
  • Provide support, guidance to assist in the facilitation of the responsibilities of the workplace parties as it related to the duty to accommodate
  • Provide advice, guidance and consultation on best practices, employment law and keeping abreast of current trends /changes in legislation providing practical advice to clients based on the interpretation of policies and procedures and employment law (ESA, OHRC, OHSA, WSIA), and collective agreements, as applicable
  • Advise on progressive discipline process including appropriate communication, documentation and support at meetings
  • In consultation with the director, conduct workplace investigations

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Human Resources or related field, CHRP an asset
  • Minimum five years progressive experience with demonstrated knowledge and understanding in the management of all aspects of HR functions, including Ontario's workplace legislation (ESA, OHRC, OHSA, WSIA, LRA) in a multi union environment
  • Comprehensive knowledge of human resource policies, practices and processes, particularly in the areas of employment law, and labour relations
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills with the ability to build relationships
  • Demonstrated ability to interact with all levels with comprehensive consultative, partnering, facilitating, and influencing/negotiating skills to energize and motivate managers and staff to deliver their best
  • Highly effective and persuasive personality, setting priorities with excellent organization skills to work effectively under pressure of high volume work
  • Forwardthinker who possess' solid leadership, strategic vision, good professional presence, and possess excellent communication skills: elicit accurate information, respond to inquiries; ability to prepare and deliver clear, concise documentation
  • Highly motivated, selfstarter, requiring little direction
  • Strong analytical, ability to problemsolve
  • Conflict resolution, mediation or negotiation skills training preferred
  • Knowledge of budget and financial processes preferred experience in health care environments is considered a strong asset
  • Microsoft Office (including Outlook, Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint) and internet
