The Opportunity:


The Research Assistant (RA) will be based at the Center for Research in Family Health; they will provide high quality administrative and research support for studies testing e-health interventions designed to support caregivers of children with developmental disabilities.

The RA will be working remotely (i.e., from home). They will report to the Study Coordinators but will work closely with all members of the CRFH team. There may be shared responsibilities for other studies.

Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

  • Assisting with research projects adhering to specific study protocols
  • Recruiting study participants using social media campaigns, events, conferences, research registries and through ongoing communications with clinics and organizations
  • Conducting data collection through telephone interviews with study participants and entering data live into online data capture system
  • Calling participants to obtain informed consent for research studies
  • Maintaining confidential participant files and electronic records
  • Monitoring of research data, maintaining databases, coding data, and other data entry tasks and preparing data sets for analysis
  • Providing support for Research Ethics Applications
  • Promoting stakeholder awareness and Knowledge Translation via newsletters and social media
  • Assisting in the creation of evidencebased resources for parents of children with developmental disabilities
  • Conducting computerized literature searches and collecting, reviewing, organizing, and managing research articles

Hours of Work:


Some flexibility is required e.g., some evenings or weekends may be required depending on the nature of on-going studies and deadlines.


Your Qualifications:


  • Competencies in other languages an asset; French fluency is a strong asset.
  • Bachelor's Degree in a related discipline, such as psychology, nursing, family studies or health promotion is preferred.
  • Experience creating and managing social media campaigns is a strong asset.
  • Experience in a research environment and with Research Ethics Board submissions is a strong asset.
  • Excellent problem solving skills and the ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, required.
  • Demonstrated excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, initiative and ability to work with mínimal supervision and productively within a team required.
  • Ability to work flexibly, multitask, and receive constructive feedback.
  • High degree of computer literacy and advanced working knowledge of computer programs, including Windows, Outlook, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint as well as Adobe Acrobat, and internet resource use required. SPSS, SAP and HTML knowledge is an asset.
  • Familiarity with the Tri-Council Policy Statement, Good Clinical Practice and granting agency guidelines is a strong asset.
  • Experience in a related role in a health centre or university/academic environment preferred.
  • Familiarity with REDCap an asset.
