Janitor/pool Operator - Cornwall, Canada - City of Cornwall
Description
The City of Cornwall is seeking a temporary Janitor/Pool Operator for the Aquatic Centre to provide janitorial/custodial and pool maintenance activities in order to maintain the Aquatic Centre at a high standard of safety and cleanliness for all users.
Responsibilities
- Perform daily, weekly and monthly duties as per the daily housekeeping schedule by
- Prepare the Aquatic Centre for events including performing snow removal, litter pickup and to adjust the maintenance program to accommodate changes in bookings
- Perform routine and emergency water samples as prescribed and to maintain accurate records of all water samples and pool data such as attendance, bather load, water temperature, chemical controls, etc.
- Adjust as required chemical injection into the pools in order to maintain set levels
- Work closely with the Department's programming section to ensure all equipment is in proper working order as required
- Assist in coordinating maintenance plans for the Aquatic Centre to ensure a safe facility and to report any abnormal conditions
- Perform, as required, general and routine repairs i.e. grease pumps, change bulbs, adjust pumps, filters and clean and replace injectors
- Perform related duties as required and assigned to ensure the successful operation of the facility which operates on a 7day/24hour rotating shift operation
Required Qualifications & Experience
- Grade 12 education or equivalent
- Hold and maintain, or be eligible to obtain the Level
- Pool Operator qualification
- Demonstrate ability to work with minimum to no supervision and lead a small crew
- Experience in facility custodial activities (i.e. floor maintenance, disinfection procedures and general janitorial functions)
- Basic knowledge, comprehension and experience in trades associated with plumbing, mechanical, light electrical
- Experience working with hand tools
- Basic understanding of swimming pool systems functions i.e. pumps, filtration, backwashing, pool chemistry
- Strong interpersonal and communication (verbal and written) skills
- Must be available to work all shifts (7 day/24hour, rotating, 12hour shift schedule)
- Must be capable to follow all legal regulatory requirements and record all reports as directed
- Experience with gel coating, buffing and all aspects of fiberglass type work would be considered an asset
- Must show proof of a valid G driver's license, including drivers abstract
The City offers an hourly wage starting at $23.60 per hour, a minimum of 25 hours per week, occasionally up to 40 hours per week.
