Scope of Position:


The Housekeeper shall provide housekeeping and other services to residents in a safe and efficient manner, according to the policies and procedures of the Home.


Employment Terms:

- $16.50/hr, 22.5 hours per week

  • Flexible on days and start times
  • Must have the ability to commute to work (17 Genier Street, St. Albert ON)
  • Must have a Canadian work permit
  • Must be bilingual

Key Responsibilities:


  • Operates and cleans equipment, furniture and cleans and maintains all areas related to residents as per work routines
  • Cleans resident rooms on a weekly basis following the schedule set out by the home
  • Provides services and interacts with residents and resident family members in a professional manner
  • Participates as a member of the maintenance team and provides support to the other members of the team
  • Projects the appropriate image and focus on customer service in their dealings with residents, families and guests
  • Observes and adheres to all policies and procedures, work standards and safety regulations
  • Provides personal laundry services for residents in accordance with established work routines
  • Assists and attends to the needs of the residents as required
  • Maintains work and storage areas in a clean, safe and sanitary manner
  • Works safely to reduce the risk of injury to self, coworkers, and residents
  • Is alert to, remedies, and promptly reports all actual or potentially hazardous situations
  • Wears personal protective equipment (or clothing) as required by task, MSDS, or home policy
  • Other related duties as assigned

Education/Experience:


  • Previous experience in housekeeping and/or laundry services
  • Successful completion of secondary school or equivalent
  • Must be able to read and communicate effectively
  • Must be able to follow written and verbal instructions
  • Demonstrated empathy and understanding of the needs of seniors
  • Effective interpersonal relationship and conflict resolution skills
  • Ability to organize work and work under strict time constraints
  • Must have a high standard of hygiene and cleanliness
  • Must be able to operate related equipment
  • Must be able to respond to emergency situations
  • Must be able to stand for extended periods of time as well as lift and carrying heavy trays and items.
