Finch Drive in Squamish is DHD's latest project. DHD has secured four stunning mountainside view properties in central Squamish totaling over 20 acres. This future master-planned community will use modern building technologies to achieve some of Squamish's most energy efficient, multi-family homes.

We are seeking
Carpenter Apprentices to assist in the completion of all aspects of interior finishing carpentry to a high level of quality with excellent attention to detail in high end multi-family housing units.

This role utilizes safe work practices and complies with DHD and WorkSafe BC policies and regulations. The Carpenter Apprentice reports to the Site Foreperson.





THE ROLE:
RESPONSIBILITIES and ACCOUNTABILITIES


Communicate with the Site Foreperson, Assistant Site Supervisor, Site Supervisor and Project Manager on any and all issues that could be detrimental or create new opportunities.

Create and lead a culture of respect, integrity, and open communication.

An environment that is conducive to teamwork and that delivers a high level of customer satisfaction, revenue growth, and profitability.

Read and interpret blueprints, drawings and sketches to determine specifications and calculate requirements.

Prepare layouts in conformance to building codes using measuring tools.

Assist in preparation of layouts in conformance to building codes using measuring tools.

Assist in measure cutting, shaping, assembling and joining materials made of wood, steel and other materials.

Assist in building foundations, installing floor beams, laying subflooring and erecting walls and roof systems.

Assist in fitting and installing windows, doors, stairs, mouldings and hardware.

Work effectively with all members of the DHD team to facilitate job specifications and meet operating schedules.

Produce efficient and high quality daily work in compliance with required building codes.

Ensure compliance with WorkSafeBC regulations and DHD policies on site at all times.

Assist other sub-trades as required.

Complete other duties that may be assigned from time to time by the Site Foreperson.


QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience

  • A high school diploma;
  • Registered Carpenter Apprentice;
  • Experience in general construction an asset;
  • Valid Class 5 BC Driver's license;

Skills

Comprehensive knowledge of:


  • WorkSafe BC regulations, processes and safety practices;
  • Trade mathematics and imperial and metric measurements;
  • Characteristics of construction materials and their proper use;

Proven skill in:


  • Safe work practices;
  • Performing physically demanding tasks;
  • Operating hand and power tools of all types;
  • Operating light, medium and heavy vehicles and special construction and maintenance equipment;
  • Interpersonal relationship building;

Demonstrated ability to:


  • Work independently or with little supervision, carrying out tasks efficiently;
  • Lift up to 50 pounds;
  • Maintain quality and attention to critical details;
  • Collaborate with a variety of stakeholders to produce highquality results;
  • Be a team player with a high level of enthusiasm;
  • Have a willingness to learn and take direction while developing and diversifying skill set;
  • Communicate, both verbally and in writing, clearly and accurately; and
  • Stay current with industry trends and best practices.

Salary:
$25.00-$35.00 per hour
