    Reporting to the Manager of Sustainability, the Superintendent, Environment is responsible for the development and implementation of environmental governance, practices, and procedures at Highland Valley Copper. This individual is accountable for ensuring the operations is meeting internal and external requirements for environmental performance, interfacing with federal, provincial and Indigenous governments, as well as internal departments and corporate teams.

    Responsibilities:

    • Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedure
    • Provide proactive guidance, support and risk control effectiveness for HVC's three environmental pillars: (1) Ecology & Air, (2) Water & Source Control, and (3) Regulatory & Engagement
    • Coordinate all processes and procedures to ensure HVC's operation maintains compliance with all regulations and operating permits
    • Participate in Teck's Social, Environmental, and Regulatory Approvals (SERA) process for major mine permit applications

    Qualifications:

    • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Science is preferred
    • Have a minimum of 10 years progressively senior level experience
    • Technical knowledge of federal and provincial compliance practices and regulations related to resource development is required
    • Experience in environmental data management and reporting, including Environmental Management Systems
    • Demonstration of excellent project management experience with a track record that includes management and technical direction of multiple environmental disciplines and projects
    • Demonstration of critical thinking competencies including judgment and analytical thinking
    • Proven team player with the ability to build and maintain internal and external relationships
    • Proven track record of holding individuals accountable to commitments
    • Proven and exemplary leadership and supervisory skills and experience of leading a team of 10 to 20 individuals
    • Computer skills and experience with the Microsoft Office Suite , particularly Outlook, Word and Excel.
    • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment while leading change

    Salary Range: $132,000 - $163,000

    The actual base salary offered is determined based on the successful candidate's relevant experience, skills, and competencies and considers internal equity.
